Verizon Wireless Samsung Trance to launch April 24th

Thanks to one of our ninjas we got word that the Samsung Trance U490 will launch via all available channels on April 24th. The Trance is a mid-level, music-centric offering that is a nice replacement for the aging Samsung Juke. Music playback on the Trance will be powered by Bang & Olufsen ICEpower sound technology and includes a novel music sharing feature that allows playback on two simultaneous Bluetooth stereo connections. In addition to its impressive music capabilities, the Trance also packs the following into its slider form factor:

  • 2.1″ display with 176 x 220 resolution
  • CDMA 1X 800/1900mHz Digital Only
  • 1.3 Megapixel Camera
  • 1GB of Internal Memory Dedicated for Music, up to 16GB MicroSD expansion
  • 3.5mm Headset Jack
  • Bluetooth
  • Mobile Email, Mobile Web, VZ Navigator, Chaperone Parent and Chat Capable
  • V CAST Music with Rhapsody support
  • Music Player for MP3, WMA & unprotected AAC & unprotected AAC+ Formats
  • One touch access to Music and ability to create & manage playlists and to Multi-task while listening to music
  • Sync Music from PC to Phone, Over the Air Music Downloads are not Supported
  • Text, Picture, and Voice Messaging with Threaded Messaging Feature
  • Tools: Alarm Clock, World Clock, Calculator with Converter, Stop Watch

Keeping with its mid-level status, the Trance will retail for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a 2-year contract, $119.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate and a 1 year contract or $219.99 for full retail.

I think its a pretty good replacement for the juke, although the form factor isnt as unique

and RICHIE they are coming out with another Storm soon if you read this site as avidly as you think they do

still, these phones are actually just as important as the Storm, if not more, since the average consumer isn’t looking for a smartphone that they have to pay a $30 data plan for every month
