Exclusive Apple iPhone 3.0 screenshots leak out

One of our trusty ninjas just blessed us with some exclusive iPhone 3.0 shots. Things like detailing a video recording application, more settings options, an accessibility entry, and even showing that Apple could possibly be integrating voice dialing, too. Hit the break for the rest of the snappies!

UPDATE: Our ninja hit us up to add some following goodies:

  • The final 3.0 firmware is said to support OpenGL ES v2.0.
  • There are various references to “ChinaBrick” in some of the 3.0 beta firmwares. Could this a reference to a Chinese-specific iPhone with no 3G and no Wi-Fi? It would be pretty comical if it was…
  • We’re also told that there’s a very, very strong possibility video recording will be specifically for the new hardware iPhone and not backwards compatible with the iPhone 3G. Not something entirely new, just more strikes against current users getting some video love, though!

I really hope the next iPhone has much better hardware. I really don’t want to have an old iPhone, but I can’t see spending the money for an early upgrade if we’re just getting a better camera and speed. I’m really hoping for a front facing camera, more RAM, and longer lasting battery life.

    Hi all!
No a blackberry isn’t an iphone. I used my bb every day but the iphone I can only use at the weekends.
No push of multiple exchange accounts is one point, battery stays 4 times longer, using intranet pages, the bbos is more safety. And HTML Mail works on BlackBerry since OS 4.5 is released in April 2008. IPhone is what it is, a play machine. And with the new OS we have more fun at play. But for my business i cant miss a blackberry.
One thing, why do the iphone load html mails complete with pictures? Its a safety issue if it is a spam mail!

I switched from my iPhone 3g to a blackberry curve. It only took me 3 days to switch back. Blackberry’s are second only to the instinct for worst interface on a smart phone.

This still doesn’t change the fact that you can only have 180 apps. 32 more from the current 148. This is retarded by Apple. You can’t scroll up, left or down.

I switched from a 8310 to a 3g a few months ago. Best tech move i’ve made since going from shoe laces to velcro…..and then back to laces. I’m creating an app that keeps a tally of every time a blackberry loser…sorry…user…cries over a scratch on their screen and tries to blow the dust from between their keys. The fake leather casing on the “bold” is a nice touch. But will it crack if left in the sun like the dashboard of an ‘87 lincoln continental? Bad design move. Plus, for a name like “Bold” you’d think it would have a little more weight. It’s gotta feel right in your hand. I felt like I was picking up a cheap television remote with loose parts rattling around on the inside.

Oh, and the Palm Pre (whatever the hell that means!) looks like a suppository!! That boat’s gonna sink quick!! I don’t like my phone to look like something Leap Frog would put out.

I like the idea of a video camera if apple would stop releasing a new iphone every year and just make the current one upgradable through software for at least 2 years. or at least give owners of the 3g or original iphone deals on the new ones. Thats why the iPhone is the best but apple sucks. release a great phone that doesnt have the two main features that cheap phones have, and then give you mms a year later and make you buy a whole new phone for video. When we get to the 4th model is when I’ll upgrade, but every year on a 2yr contract still cost alot of money

The curve had half the battery life of my IP3G. It was hell the 5 days I had to use the blackberry POS. Nice Internet browser too. I can’t believe they call it a browser.

I’m excited to upgrade to a new iPhone, but I think it’s gonna suck telling people about the phone’s cool new features. Nobody is gonna be excited when you tell them that your top of the line phone now has multimedia messaging and video. People will just say, “My phone had that 6 years ago.”

    1. SSH into your iphone
    2. Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/
    3. Download the file M68AP.plist
    4. Open the file using a text editor or a plist editor
    5. Add a Boolean value under the capabilities dictionary
    6. Boolean Key = video-camera / Boolean Value = true
    7. Save and upload the file to the same directory that it was originally in
    8. Go onto the iPhone and respring
    9. Done! You now have access to the camcorder interface, but beware, the interface is slow and once you have done these instructions you will not be able to take regular photos.

Can’t wait for 3.0. Seems like Apple has a lot to gain and not much to lose by releasing a few screenshots, just to make hype and to make users want to get 3.0.

Well, current iphone users shouldn’t get their hopes up. Video and voice dialing would probably be for next gen iphone buyers only. Will the price go up? Maybe. I personally like the camera on my 3g iphone. It works well for what it does and I don’t care about video. That’s what my regular camera is for. There are some great apps for making pics brighter, like iflash ready, if you want to go that route. Voice dialing would be nice though and auto answer. I would think though that those two features would be a simple firmware and software update. At least I hope so.

I believe you need the password. I’m on 2.2.1, and it asks me for a password. I know the password for 1.0 was something like ‘alpine.’ you could try searching google or something.

What’s with the jealousy/hostility? Blackberries are good phones, I had a pearl, then a curve, then I made a switch to iPhone because its very compatible with the work that I do. Bberry’s and iPhones are both great devices. Some of you sound like your fighting over what action hero is better, grow up…

I have the BB 8830 quite possible the coolest blackberry ever when released. The problem is that it is a work phone and it is CRIPPLED because it allows the system administrator to block ever freaking cool feature and put so many policy controls on it that it takes it to a halt.

    For a work-aholic the BB is great…

I finally bought and Iphone it is great for personal use…

I would had to use an Iphone on my work network… the corporate policies will kill all of the cool stuff.

Please, please just give us the option of video recording and an upgraded camera as on all other mobiles. For something so advanced how could this most basic thing be left off!!!!!!!!! I adore my iPhone but it could be so much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
