Exclusive Apple iPhone 3.0 screenshots leak out

One of our trusty ninjas just blessed us with some exclusive iPhone 3.0 shots. Things like detailing a video recording application, more settings options, an accessibility entry, and even showing that Apple could possibly be integrating voice dialing, too. Hit the break for the rest of the snappies!

UPDATE: Our ninja hit us up to add some following goodies:

  • The final 3.0 firmware is said to support OpenGL ES v2.0.
  • There are various references to “ChinaBrick” in some of the 3.0 beta firmwares. Could this a reference to a Chinese-specific iPhone with no 3G and no Wi-Fi? It would be pretty comical if it was…
  • We’re also told that there’s a very, very strong possibility video recording will be specifically for the new hardware iPhone and not backwards compatible with the iPhone 3G. Not something entirely new, just more strikes against current users getting some video love, though!

There is no trap. I had an iMac g4 since 2004 that was replaced 2 months ago for a new iMac intel c2D. Do I have to upgrade when there is a new release? Of course not. THe funny thing is, PC users complain the lack of current up-to-date hardware in the Mac world given the fast pace at which technology changes

It only took them (Apple) a few years to make the iPhone attractive to “power” smartphone users of the BlackBerry and Windows Mobile variety. Now if only AT&T would lower the deposits for people with “bad” credit and “good” history with their previous provider, we’d be in business.

AT&T wanted $1,500 — $750 per line for two iPhones for me. That’s just the deposit. That’s a mortgage and car payment just to be able to purchase and activate phones on AT&T’s craptastic GSM network. Hooray for deposits.

I’ve been with Alltel who only wanted $200 per line and I’ve been with them since 2005. Verizon wanted $1,000 per line but ha, we are now Verizon.

In CA, it’s illegal to do anything with your cell phone in your hand while driving. Voice dialing with a bluetooth headset is the perfect solution to overcome this. And, I’ve actually had very good results with the App Store voice dialing apps.

How do you know the battery % was already built in?

Also, I’ve got 3.0 beta 2 and there’s no option for it on my phone…

Complaining about deposits? Really? REALLY?? Why does att need your crummy payment history, and hassle of late bill payments, possible high risk of cancellation? They don’t. I’m not a crazy fanboy that feels att can do no wrong, but don’t blame att for discouraging you as a potential customer due to your poor credit, least of all while complaining about their “craptastic GSM network”.

Seems to me that a lot of the new ideas that Apple is putting into the new 3.0 FW should have been there all along. Ex: MMS. I mean really. It seems that when the fir generation iPhone was being completed they went way too fast and missed a lot of key abilities. Either that or they were in such a hurry to start selling the iPhone that they procrastinated the idea. To stray away from the down sides, I think that Apple is implementing some key features into the new FW. Perhaps some things that aren’t really used, such as voice dialing. The only good thing thats used for is with a wireless headset or other device but it’s still unreliable. Also, the possibility of video recording not being backwards compatible with the iPhone 3g?? I just upgraded to a 3g!! Ridiculous.

    Thats all….

I have tested the 3.0 beta since the day it came out until yesterday when I switched back to a jailbroken 2.2.1, I never saw any of these features, and never had a battery percentage or option to turn it on. These must be screen shots of the new beta coming out soon. Maybe i’ll have to try it out again, both versions were just to slow, crashed, and maps didnt work, plus it’s hard to have an iphone and live without xGPS.

I guess I shouldn’t have said trap; I love apple and I will continue to buy its’ products. What I was trying to say is that the way apple markets its’ products is great. The public is always left wanting more and waiting for the next big thing. Hence the reason why these software updates have been spread out over almost a two-year period. None of these new features are groundbreaking features but yet websites like these just eat it up when leaks become available.

well said. I definitely agree with you. ATT has a well known name and a large customer base so they can afford to be picky. It’s not the carrier’s fault if you have bad credit….

Been waiting for this kinda update ever since iPhone initially launched. I guess all the missing requirements of the iPhone are now complete. If this new version of iPhone does get released in June then i am def gonna go ahead and buy it and give up on my Nokia E71.

    and BTW, blackberry’s are boring!

with a 3g jailbroken iphone, battery percentages are possible along with video recording and a slew of other goodies…apple is getting tired of 3rd party apps because itunes is losing money to 3rd party people so it’s no surprise they are making these apps standard for the 3.0 software!

Johnny B, if that was the case, why do ALL companies keep on updating and make their products better/faster/slicker all the time? Why should Apple be treated any differently to RIM, Nokia, Sony Ericsson in this case?

I think that Apple was already working on the new June update (they update their hardware/software every year) but the Pre announcement forced them to announce it early to make sure that the Pre didn’t grab all the attention and to make sure iPhone owners didn’t jump ship in case the Pre is released early. It is possible that they added a few additional features to the 3.0 update once they saw the Pre functionality but they were well on their way to releasing the new iPhone 4G (or whatever it’ll be called) and OS 3.0.

Glad that Voice dialing is finally arriving. Used it all the time on my old phone and since the new law in my city states that using a mobile handheld while driving is fine-able I can’t call while driving. Really trying to call someone with the iPhone on the road is unsafe since you have to take your eyes off the road.

What non iPhone users don’t realize us that Apple is developing this phone in an controlled enviornment. One OS upgrade big or small but progressively. What will they say when it has everything come 3.0? They will find another thing to say it doesn’t do like make love to your fold your clothes or something crazy like that. The real question should be how did Apple catch up and pass us in 2 years. That’s amazing if you ask me. This is coming from almost 4 years with Blackberries and now a convert of almost 1 year.

Battery percentage “inspired” by Cydia? Yeah, cause Apple didn’t have that on their laptops since they started making them. Good call there!

I got the Battery Percentage switch to show and work.
And in addition, the menus (Accessibility & Voice Control) to show, but the contents of them is not yet implemented into the firmware, at least not that I could find, meaning simply, that you’ll get a blank menu, similar to the new “Store” menu showing in the Preferences pane in 3.0b2.
