Alleged T-Mobile Q2 – Q4 2009 3G rollout schedule revealed

Rest easy, residents of Wichita Falls, T-Mobile 3G is coming your way this month! Ok don’t get too excited as the info above is hardly confirmed at this point, but an alleged screen shot of an internal T-Mobile memo is making the rounds this morning. The memo allegedly lays out the company’s 3G upgrade path for the remainder of 2009. If it turns out to be real, the document definitely lists some pretty big markets such as Tucson, Eugene, Cleveland and a bunch of cities across Texas, though plenty of major markets will still be left hanging unless they’re covered by those oh-so-sketchy and more/and many more mentions. Sit tight while we ping a few T-Mobile ninjas to see what we can drum up along the lines of a confirmation.

The fact that they spelled McAllen right, does give me some hope that this might be true, but there’s about 100,000 population wise there, why would the bring it to such a small area, and not a larger one?

Nice to hear. Although I use Verizon at the moment, I like to give props to T-Mobile for gunning hard. The larger carriers need more competition.

The good thing about T-Mobile’s 3G network is that it’s less crowded. That should be a plus for users within their respected build outs.

    Way to go T-Mo!

I’d also like to point out the “many more,” verbiage at the end of each announcement in the article. That may mean there are several other towns that will be covered but are simply not mentioned.

A local SoCal engineer told me that they are alos working on backfill projects locally. That means they are not only expanding coverage but they are beefing up existing 3G coverage too by adding more panels to new/existing cell sites and adding more backhaul capacity.

This is pathetic. You might as well use Cricket or MetroPCS.

Too little, too late. Will check back with T-Mo in 2012, and maybe they’ll have their sh** together then. T-Mo is the caboose of mobile providers.

When 3G went up in the Philadelphia area and spread into NJ, in the summer of ‘08, parts of Mercer County NJ lost Edge signal. We retained plain GSM and also GPRS, which is interesting. It’s about a 9 square mile area. Tmo doesn’t care. Tmo doesn’t believe me. They obviously moved an antenna somewhere. What really irks me most of all, is I get emails from them announcing how they’ve made things better, by adding a tower here or there (sometimes 50 miles away!). FIE ON YOU, TMO!

Wow, and no expansions in Michigan. All they have is an extremely small area that they currently have in metro Detroit. I can’t believe how far behind they are and Verizon and AT&T are already planning their 4G networks.

T-Mobile – you guys are full of it. You fill little BS cities in the south with 3G and say f@ck it to larger midwest cities. I cant wait to drop you guys and your lame strategies. Get your money from the backwards southeners!
