BlackBerry Storm 2 with Wi-Fi and a new screen

SlashGear reported on a rumor they heard about the next generation BlackBerry Storm launching with Wi-Fi on Verizon Wireless. We’ve been able to confirm that rumor a pretty long while ago, so yes, the Storm 2 will launch on Verizon with Wi-Fi. SlashGear was correct in their report and it’s 100% confirmed. Something not reported though, and now confirmed to us by two independent sources, is the new screen tech involved. We’re told that it improves the screen enormously and makes typing really pleasurable. Better yet? You can leave it to RIM to come up with the dumbest names possible because we heard they’re ditching SurePress and calling this one TruePress. Don’t take that as fact, but it is interesting that both our sources had mentioned the same thing to us. So, the BlackBerry Storm 2 will launch with Wi-Fi and a brand new screen technology, and, if we were a betting bunch we’d wager it will have a 5 megapixel camera.

Don’t you just love rumors?

    @ ||alot of these|||
    Do you have a Storm? I can type pretty quickly, but I do have a problem with my “keyboard” disappearing for no apparent reason. I will be typing a message and all of a sudden, my virtual keyboard is gone and the last two words I typed have also vanished, and I’m like wtf!?!?! But when the keyboard doesn’t disappear, I can type relatively fast.

    I’ve always said that the Storm’s typing ability would be much improved if they added either two buttons instead of one, or a larger single button…

    But I wonder what the new method is that they came up with.

    If this rumor is true, then I would buy it. If the BB 9630 “Niagara” comes to Verizon and have WiFi too, which Verizon seems to hate, then I will finally buy a Smartphone from them.

    No I hate rumors.

    How can I decide on a phone when there is a rumoured one every 16 seconds?

    This is garbage and you know it BG.

    VZW would have to give this thing away to every customer who picked up a 9530.

    @Roger A

    Bro… I don’t know why this is so difficult. Wi-Fi is confirmed. No rumor.

    Enter the rumor: new screen tech, better than 3.2 megapixel camera.

    Again, why is this difficult?

    @Mark Twain

    Because they are releasing an updated model a year later they have to give it away? What the hell is wrong with you?

    They better offer some sort of trade in program for us Storm 1 owners….they have really screwed us with the lack of OS updates and faulty hardware.

    its garbage. Untrue an garbage, even the Niagra won’t have wifi. An it would be less than a year. If not free then one hell of a discount. Kinda like saying F U an giving the one finger salute to all the folks who bought the 9530.

    The iPhone 3G came out a year after the original iPhone and Apple got away with out instating a “refund policy”. You can’t say the iPhone 3G wasn’t much of an improvement over the iPhone either… it was a HUGE difference that all the early adopters missed out on, but the 3G still sold.

    Perhaps the secret feature is LTE. I think VZW would want their flagship phone to support 4g?
