Who cares?

$60/month + tax, times 24 months.

That’s $1440 for a netbook that retails at $400, not to mention how slow and pathetic the hardware will be in one year, let alone two.

I’ll stick with my retail purchased HP Mini, a $3 usb cable, and my $15/month tethering package. Thanks.

Actually CriKet has thier own network, the phones will roam but the aircard is only for native network. That was they way at launch, don’t think it would change considering how much roaming is charged for voice

they pose no threat to the big guys because they’re using the big guy’s network, so the big man is still making $$ without having to attract customers or retain them. If their customer base gets too big and hogs too much bandwith, the big man will just charge them more.

I don’t see that happening, in california there is a carrier called metro pcs who does all of that for 50 including messaging and unlimited voice, and they now have a cdma curve too. Major carriers don’t see these companies as competiton as they aren’t nationwide, and aren’t really stealing an important customer base.

If you live within Cricket’s service area, you can get prepaid mobile data service for $40/month. I hope competing services like this help drive the cost down of similar services on VzW and ATT.

I love the idea, but will this cause prices of mobile internet to go down? I can’t see myself letting go of my berry, that does just about everything, for one of these at twice the monthly for mobile internet. Sure I could loose the berry and substitute it with a netbook, but that would be flat out CU-RAY-ZEE!

PS: I’d do it for $35 a month though.
