AT&T offering refurbished BlackBerry Bold for free
In the market for a new AT&T smartphone? Don’t care if it’s refurbished? The BlackBerry Bold is about as good as it gets from AT&T right now, and those of you who haven’t pulled the trigger yet are in for a treat. How does free sound? Regularly priced at $299.99 new and $199.99 refurbished, this is pretty much a steal as long as a new 2-year contract doesn’t scare you off. It looks like the free deal is only good online and only for today, so get a move on!
Thanks, Chris!

AT&T’s network is the only part not making this the greatest offer on Earth. Dammit!!!!
AT&T has been paying $400 for Bold to RIMM. Wonder what’s the reason they are giving it away. Too much of Bold inventory, people who got Bold cannot afford to pay bills, AT&T new subscriber additions looking much weaker than they expected and they are getting desperate at the end of the quarter. Maybe all the above.
Let me tell you, be careful with refurbished Bolds. I am in an enterprise setting with a bunch of Bolds in use. I have had to replace a few under warranty and several of the units that were supposedly refurbished had problems of their own, such as not reading memory cards or buttons not working. Make sure you thoroughly test the unit before you accept it.
I just spoke with my rep and she says, “No, we are doing free Curves and Pearls and $199.99 BOLD and 8820 devices. Let me know if I can help.”
Exactly what I needed! I just called and set everything up (apparently it’s eligible as an over-the-phone offer too), just waiting on the employee to call me back w/his manager’s approval. Holy sh!t though, this is amazing.
@Eve: From my online chat with Felecia: “Go ahead and Add to cart as a new customer. When it arrives, call care to activate and add to existing plan as an add a line.”
Simple, no?
Great deal!
I have an account with a FAN attached and so the price was showing as $199 on my Premier page when I went to add a line…
…so I tried it as a “new” customer without being logged into my account and it worked.
We’ll see if I actually get the Bold…
Just ordered one. You have to be a new customer OR adding a new line. Offer gives you a Free Priority Shipping (2-day) also. Minimum package is Nation 450 w/rollover at $39.99. Also 3 “Features” are available and one must be purchased.
I just called about the whole thing… couldn’t get the deal because I’m not a new customer. However, they did get me a NEW Bold for the $399, with $100 mail-in, and then $200 credit on my account… so in the end I’ll pay only $99… not bad, not great….
yes you can get the at&t insurance on a refurb phones. the 90 day is the warranty, but you can get the extra insurance for it.
Damn what timing. I just bought my mom the Curve like 2 or 3 weeks ago.
Don’t see the FREE offer any more on their site, however, I have been with AT&T for 10+ years and in a 2-year rate plan that’s not up until July. I usually upgrade every 2 years for a killer deal.
Well, this Boy Genius posting spurred me into action and I called AT&T.
Don’t ask for Customer Service. Ask for Customer Relations to get this loyal customer deal – $399 minus $100 mail-in minus $150 account credit minus $50 for ordering over phone (plus free shipping)
In the end I’ll pay only $99 for a new Bold and restart my 2-year commitment now vs. July.
If a better phone comes out later, I can always add an extra line and combine later.
This is a great deal. But do we need to add data plan?
I tried to upgrade online, (included voice plan, and data plan) and could not proceed to “checkout”.
Called customer service, and they said since I am a Premier Customer, I am not eligible for the Free Refurb Bold.
LAME!
You know that since the deal is through let’stalk ANYONE can get that dea right?
First thought…why are there so many refurbed Bolds?
I’m new here…does anyone have good/bad experiences buying thru Wirefly?
There are a few phones I’d prefer to the bold but free is free. I’m out of contract with att and get a discount through an old employer. Time for me to call att and see what happens. Hopefully I can score one for nil.
Be careful thinking you can snag the refurbed Bold for only 1 months service and $175 ETF. If you read AT&T’s policy, you may have to return the equipment AND pay the ETF after 30 days:
Service Cancellation
You may cancel service within 30 days from the activation date to avoid the early termination fee of $175. Thereafter the fee will decrease by $5 each month for the term of the agreement. You will be responsible for all applicable usage fees, prorated access charges, taxes, surcharges or other charges through the termination date. AT&T will refund your activation fee, if any, if service is terminated within 3 days of activation.
You may have to return any handsets and accessories purchased with the service before your account will be cancelled. If you are allowed to cancel service within the 30 day return period, but do not return the equipment within the return period, AT&T may charge you an amount equal to or up to the full retail price of the equipment.
hopefully they are clearing these out to make room for the 8900!
I ordered one today, but you had to get a voice and data plan..i wonder if i can change the plan to the data only for $35 after i receive it?? Does anyone know??
Retention told me to go online for this deal. But she said I should be able to switch to my current sim and keep my number once I port to my bold.
Just ordered one online. Ill ditch my old number if I have to. This is a great deal, especially since my wife is on att out of contract. Worst case, I give her this one and get a pre.
Damn, I was about to jump on this, but it doesn’t work as an upgrade, to bad. Guess ill just keep using my rentobile blackberry bold, and not pay for the blackberry internet service and use mediamax bundle since they haven’t realised I’m doing this
I cant see how people can pay $30 for a blackberry plan and an extra $20 for unlimited texting and plus minutes. Guess I will never get a blackberry. I’ll just wait for the Pre hopefully sprint doesnt jack up the prices
Great Deal!! Just ordered one yesterday… waiting on it… should be either monday or tuesday!!!
