Actually there were two reasons. One, the mobile version of safari uses a modified version of webkit. Yes, it would be the same premise to infiltrate the security hole, but the iPhone lacks the back end capabilities for the hole to be exploited for anything very useful. Sure, you can open the door, but there’s a brick wall behind it.

The second is, if he used the same hack on the iPhone that he did on the Mac, he wouldn’t get paid – but not performing any hack doesn’t get him paid either. And next year, your going to have everyone already know about the hole and it might get patched before then. So he might as well have used it now.

And even if smartphone platforms get more targed and less secure in the future, if you use Palm OS, nobody will ever care enough to even bother trying to hack you! Go obsolete technology!
