AT&T: New iPhone will be hot, son
We can’t tell you where or who, but pretty high up in AT&T’s food chain, the following was reported to be said:
- New iPhone announcement around mid-June (duh)
- New iPhone will be faster and have a more seamless experience unmatched by any device (could be just talking about 3.0, but we think it’s also a new iPhone)
- U-Verse iPhone application; will allow control of your home DVR (play, pause, rewind, etc.)
- The annual iPhone launch is “becoming a tradition.”
- Nothing official is being confirmed, but they said that people should prep for an exciting time this summer.
- AT&T is said to be working with Apple to create a unified product with an unparalleled experience across all their products and services.
- Apple’s 3.0 software should tell us where the iPhone platform is going… uh, k?
- They said customers shouldn’t need to choose from AT&T’s high-end devices because of features, they should choose based on preferences. The gap in capability should be filled with the new iPhone. Ok, bets on slide out QWERTY, autofocus camera, video sharing, blah blah?
- Seems like the higher speed HSDPA (7.2Mbps) is being hinted at too which should confirm the earlier rumors of the new Infineon chipset.
- The $99 3G netbook will start selling this summer, and the first one won’t be a Windows OS.

I love the slide out keyboard crowd! Hey, I hope it has a slide out keyboard, a stylus, a 1.3″ dual scan screen, 256k of memory and a place to store some of the numbers you call the most…that would be hot!

I just checked my online profile. My upgrade date was previously 3/22/09, and it didn’t change. I guess your account had some kind of issue?

It happened to me. My upgrade was for 2/15/2009 and they changed it to 7/15/2009. I have 3 lines and 2/15/2009 was a year from my primary line previous upgrade but technically it should 18 months and the date should be 8/15/2009. I will definitely wait for the summer to upgrade to the new iphone

Didnt anyone watch the latest keynote on apple.com ????? a other few things- there wont be a keyboard attached to an iphone(APPLE doesnt run that style, they like their products “seamless” and less moving parts are less breakable products. But the ability to bluetooth a keyboard to the iphone seems likely with the hints at the keynote about “accessories” . this summer Youre going to be able to tether youre iphone to a laptop legally, and regarding the “netbook” it will be from a manufacturer we weren’t expecting and cheap or the itablet( or something running a much larger size iphone os probably 10″ touchscreen of course. im only curious on the monthly charges……
Nice try, but everybody knows that the NSA approved smartphone that the Prez is now sporting is a WinMo device build by a defense contractor.
There won’t be QWERTY because that would be removing one of the features that makes the iPhone what it is. Being able to toggle the keyboard between multiple languages is one of it’s best features.

Sounds like all the haters are just jealous. It has a keyboard, and can do almost everything any other phone can, and what it can’t, they seem to be fixing in the next update. I’m sorry you iphone nay sayers are locked into a contract with another company and get have one. It’s the best device (of any kind) I have ever had.
No QWERTY keyboard for the iPhone – EVER! I’m not sayin’ I like the virtual keyboard at all – I hate it. But if you think Apple has put all it’s time, money and effort into a touch interface only to add a physical keyboard – you are crazy! It will simply never happen.
I heard the new iphone is going to have a hydrogen fuel cell, with 15 intel mobile multi core processor, a 10in wide screen multi touch interface, a fold out table with cup holder, led flashlight, emergency beakon.
i love apple customers. they have found a company that they can follow and think they are a part of it, but old steve jobs is sitting back while you just hand over your hundreds and thousands of dollars to feed his coke habit. not really but i think its funny.
i have a iphone my self, and i would have to say there isn’t a phone that could hold a candle to the iphone. but i didn’t wait in line for 3 days before it came out, i can wait.
i think it was really funny when the first one came out, you people lined up like cattle at the slaughter house to hand him, what was it 400-500 to what 600-700 dollars for a phone that at the time didn’t really do anything special other then gave you the internet the way it should look. but that was it at the time, and after he made off like a bandit he said “watch this, im gonna drop the price on the iphone by 200 dollars and piss everyone off, and then give them a 100 dollar apple gift card to spend back at my company so i am not really loosing any money since they will have to spend it at the apple store, so it is a win win situation.” and you people said wow he is so nice to do that after he raped us on the price of a freaking phone, but now he is giving me money back. so he is really honest. SHEEP
and now he has you people hanging on every release like a dog waiting for you to hand him a treat.
but hey don’t get me wrong i like apple products and have owned ipods, iphone3g, i don’t own a mac of any sort, im just saying you people are very unique(sheep).

and i’m opting for the new iphone.
i’m hoping to get it before the middle of july…

Also I think Apple may be free from some network agreements – OK, possibly not in the the United States of Everywhere, but in OTHER countries..
That might blaze a trail for multi-network iPhone.. Its not a given that network exclusivity contracts are for the same duration in every territory world-wide..
Blackberry is multi-network, world domination will have to involve multi-network availability..
