AT&T: New iPhone will be hot, son
We can’t tell you where or who, but pretty high up in AT&T’s food chain, the following was reported to be said:
- New iPhone announcement around mid-June (duh)
- New iPhone will be faster and have a more seamless experience unmatched by any device (could be just talking about 3.0, but we think it’s also a new iPhone)
- U-Verse iPhone application; will allow control of your home DVR (play, pause, rewind, etc.)
- The annual iPhone launch is “becoming a tradition.”
- Nothing official is being confirmed, but they said that people should prep for an exciting time this summer.
- AT&T is said to be working with Apple to create a unified product with an unparalleled experience across all their products and services.
- Apple’s 3.0 software should tell us where the iPhone platform is going… uh, k?
- They said customers shouldn’t need to choose from AT&T’s high-end devices because of features, they should choose based on preferences. The gap in capability should be filled with the new iPhone. Ok, bets on slide out QWERTY, autofocus camera, video sharing, blah blah?
- Seems like the higher speed HSDPA (7.2Mbps) is being hinted at too which should confirm the earlier rumors of the new Infineon chipset.
- The $99 3G netbook will start selling this summer, and the first one won’t be a Windows OS.

Been a Sprint customer for over 6 years….started with a Palms…got caught in the Instint frenzy as the IPhone Killer that fizzled. Am finally making the plunge to IPhone when the new one comes out soon. My contract with Sprint and my other 4 phones end in July. Something about the IPhone that just won’t leave me. Everyone I have spoken with love them and everything that I have seen I love. Most not content with AT&T but Oh well not enough for me not to jump ship with Sprint. And I won’t get caught up in hype surrounding the PRE. It seems that the mystique surrounding Apple products has finally entered my blood as have already enjoyed my I-POD and I-Touch and soon my I-Phone. Steve Jobs did it right by listening and taking a risk. GOD Bless him for that.

If tha iphone had a keyboard it wouldn’t be an iphone and everyone would complain about how “this bulky hunk of junk has lost its ’sexiness’” like they do to google devices.
If u want a physical qwerty keyboard get a g1, I can tell u first hand, its great. Also with tha newest firmware tha g1 does so much more than tha iphone and its easily hacked so I can do things like tether my 3g internet to my laptop wirelessly and surf tha net virtually anywhere at no extra cost.

Thats exactly what I am considering. I have an itouch and love it. I am thinking about getting the 16GB refurbished for $150 now. It still is cheaper than a 16GB itouch. Seems like a steal. I do want the newer version this summer, but thinking of giving the old one to my wife and getting the new one. Has anyone replied back to you? Let me know but I am really considering it.

Dont you think for $150 for a refurbished 16GB iphone would be a good deal? I also look forward to the newer features, but I can then give my wife the older iphone and get the new one. I currently have a 8 GB itouch and love it but wish it would always have an internet connection. Just a thought, what do you think? That price is already cheaper than a 16GB itouch and we both love music on it and the many other features. Thanks

Not too many folks had a recommendation. It seemed like a deal that I could not pass up. I don’t always need to have the latest and greatest, so this worked well for me. I purchased a phone for my wife and then like it so much I got one for myself. Absolutely no regrets. Additionally, I agree with a previous post that said “those who want a keyboard have never used an iPhone”. I felt I needed a keyboard, having had a palm treo for the last 4+ years, but once I started to use the iphone – I had no problems. I really wanted to go with the Palm Pre, but I did not want to go with Sprint, so I felt like I had no choice. I’m glad I took the plunge! Go for it!

Where did you see this? I looked at the website, did a search and found nothing relating to your statement. I am wanting to upgrade in June when the new IPHONE comes out, so if you do have some facts about this, please be specific and let me know. Thanks

I think I might be get the refurbished and see what happens. I saw a post by someone saying something about the plastic not being available on appletoday.com yet I didnt see anything to verify that. Still for $150 for 16GB, seems like a great deal to me. Thanks for your help
Get your head out of the fucking sand, if they do have a slide out it will be no thicker than the current 3G. Look at the Macbook Air, jesus people. Knowing Steve it may slide out and be thinner than the 3G, leaving all you winers able to type as normal and have the option there if you want it. Millions will not touch the iPhone bc of the input method, millions love it just bc of it. Do the fucking Math, add both, keep it thin, add millions of new buyers, increase sharholder wealth, make apple and at&t execs and board members stinking rich, buy more yachts & houses, drink blue label scotch. Done.

A $99 3G Netbook isn’t Apple, that would be a horrible idea for Apple themselves as they released their “Netbook” Air around 1 year ago, significantly not receiving the thumbs up.
Who knows about the new iPhone, but the full touch-screen and 3 button feature won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
I will make a bet on the slide out keyboard. If Apple does it I BET no current iphone user will switch to it. And I also bet it might attract some crackheadberry users who were hesitant before.

You should learn to spell check before you start talking about “real business machines”. The iPhone is ten times the machine that Blackberries are anyhow. I tried to switch and couldn’t do it. Hell, you can even run someone’s credit card on the iPhone now.
Um. They wouldn’t ever put a slide out qwerty keyboard on an iphone… It would completely lose it’s sleek design. As far as full keyboard goes, It’s called “Horizontal keyboard”. Rotating your device the keyboard expands into more keyboard style. Just like when your on safari on your iphone and rotate it. I’m pretty sure that’s the closest to a full keyboard it’s ever going to get.

I just got he inside scoop on the new iphone coming out in June 2009. You’ll be able to picture message, its going to have a video cam recorder, live tv. mobile going to be 32gb and 64gb storage. Last but not least, 1 more year and all the providers will be selling the iphone, AT&T is not going to renew their contract. Oh and not going to have a slide out keyboard.
Convenient timing. My Verizon contract is up in late June. VZ pushed back the latest Blackberry launch from May to (maybe?) August so there’s nothing to “upgrade” to from my dying World Edition POS.

hmm copy n paste, mms, and been able to send text to more then 1 person at a time is already available on the iphone ( need to jailbreak for copy n past and mms) but sending text to more then 1 person has been available ever since it was out
I don’t think there will ever be a keyboard on the IPhone. It would kinda defeat the purpose of having a full touch screen phone.
