AT&T: New iPhone will be hot, son

We can’t tell you where or who, but pretty high up in AT&T’s food chain, the following was reported to be said:
- New iPhone announcement around mid-June (duh)
- New iPhone will be faster and have a more seamless experience unmatched by any device (could be just talking about 3.0, but we think it’s also a new iPhone)
- U-Verse iPhone application; will allow control of your home DVR (play, pause, rewind, etc.)
- The annual iPhone launch is “becoming a tradition.”
- Nothing official is being confirmed, but they said that people should prep for an exciting time this summer.
- AT&T is said to be working with Apple to create a unified product with an unparalleled experience across all their products and services.
- Apple’s 3.0 software should tell us where the iPhone platform is going… uh, k?
- They said customers shouldn’t need to choose from AT&T’s high-end devices because of features, they should choose based on preferences. The gap in capability should be filled with the new iPhone. Ok, bets on slide out QWERTY, autofocus camera, video sharing, blah blah?
- Seems like the higher speed HSDPA (7.2Mbps) is being hinted at too which should confirm the earlier rumors of the new Infineon chipset.
- The $99 3G netbook will start selling this summer, and the first one won’t be a Windows OS.
For clarification, the above is 100% confirmed.
Thanks, Stephanie!

Hot fun in the summertime!
gimme one BGR!
I don’t think there will be a keyboard on the next iphone, maybe the fourth gen iphone…
There better not be a slide out keyboard, that would deter me from buyng one and I want one pretty bad.
slide out QWERTY will NOT be a feature. sorry folks
Who cares??? Where our blacjberry 9630 review. Now that’s a real biz tool.
The iphone is just a toy. Happy playing.
Kudos BG.
What about AT&T stores only getting 20 iPhones when the line is 90-people deep?
A $99 Mac or Linux netbook would be nice.
its a slick way of distracting us from the RIMM lineup. this whole “food chain” seems to be a reactionary answer to someone who probebly asked a higher up as to why apple is sleeping while RIMM is constantly making news, and the answer was “wait ‘n see” what WE have in the bag.
so apple has this history of promising the sun, and ending up with the moon. so we will wait and see if it materializes.
but RIMM should watch out!! if apple decides to go ahead with a qwerty slider, then this will be THE ULTIMATE BLACKBERRY KILLER. the TOUCH is the things that keeps many away in my opinion.
If it actually has a slide out qwerty, it would actually be the first time I CONSIDER a iHype.
My intital impressions on 3.0 didn’t seem to be the same as other peoples. Most seemed to be ho hum about it, I was stunned.
I saw a truly ubiquitous device. Something that becomes so ingrained into your life that it stops being a want and more of a need. Everything apple has done up to this point hinted at it but 3.0 seemed like it made the tools available to really do it.
Thats what I think they’re hinting at here.
By the by. I don’t think we’ll be seeing a keyboard on the iPhone either but if we do I think its probably game over (maybe it will be one of the two models). And here I was looking forward to the VX11000. I knew it would be outdated as soon as it hit.
I hope the iPhone 4G is coming to Trinidad cuz I’m not gonna take a flight to Miami to line up at an Apple store and find out they won’t sell me one without a contract! Apple come to the Caribbean…you can have a Margarita on me!

when i can edit the registry and listening on someone when they steal my phone, customize the UI like i like THEN i will consider an Dumbphone.
winmo FTW!
NO Qweryt keyboard!!!! The whole point of having a touch screen phone is to use it not to use a slide out keyboard
My issue is that the 1st gen, they missed a bunch. The Second Gen, they still missed a bunch. Now with the latest OS upgrade, from what I hear, it is still missing some key things. What will still be missing from this generation? I’ve upgraded through 3 generations of Blackberry (so I am a bit biased), and I have never yet had to kick myself and say, Oh man… It can’t do this? I should have waited… Though I use a Bold, I know that if I had to go back and throw my sim card in my Curve 8310, or even to my 7200 series I could still function as I need to for business. (I might not be happy about it, but I could still work).
I don’t think I see that in the iPhones
Hot love on the hot love highway…
It sounds like they have some amazing things coming up. Too bad they are on the piece-of-junk AT&T network.
A $99 3G Mac netbook? There is no way it would run a full version of OSX Leopard at that price point.
This source is being so candid with other Apple/iPhone details, he/she would have detailed a Mac Netbook more- probably linux which is fine with me!
Looking forward to a fun summer. I doubt that there will be a keyboard, but the other rumored features are killer. I’ll definitely upgrade.
iPhone kills T-Mobile every year
iPhone also kills ATT network every now and then
hope it will look different… but I AM EXCITED ABOUT THE NETBOOK !
@ahow628
Not enough people quote the British Office. Thanks for that!
the slide out keyboard would make me buy one in a second
Kinda weird to say that you can’t reveal a source, but then you out “Stephanie”.
How about ATT works on getting their 3g network to more places. I love my iPhone, but my 3g network with sprint was better
So, a keyboard would totally push me in the direction of the iphone. I need a keyboard! They make for more productivity. Regrettably they make a phone prettty thick.
An Apple netbook… for $99? Define netbook in Apple terms.
I just got that warm fuzzy feeling again, DAMN YOU APPLE!
