Nokia E71x landing at AT&T locations across the country; pricing revealed

What’s better than a picture of a sexy black Nokia E71x headed to AT&T this month? A picture of four sexy black Nokia E71x’s headed to AT&T this month, of course. Since we scooped it like grandma’s mashed potatoes back in November, S60 fans have been clamoring for the AT&T-branded E71 and the wait is almost over. Units are currently arriving at AT&T stores across the country and one of our ninjas managed to wrangle up a flock of them fresh off the truck for a photo shoot that would make Sports Illustrated proud. In terms of release details, everything is apparently still on track for a March 24th release — as in, next Tuesday — and pricing looks to be set at $199.99 after rebate; not bad for what is undoubtedly still one of the slimmest, sexiest QWERTY smartphones around, despite its age. Better late than never, right? Hit the jump for more pics including a handful of comparison shots with an iPhone 3G.

Thanks, iBold!

    Hmm…this is strange. Selling it for $199 (close to $210 or so after taxes), when you can buy it for close to $250-$260 online, unbranded and unlocked?

    I own an iPhone 3g at the mo, but I am a Nokia fan for life (have the 5800 as backup, had a N95 for 2 years, and the E71 for 2 weeks). And it sure is a sexy thing. A li’l on the heavy side though. With Nokia’s, it’s all about the specs..and this thing can blast anything in it’s class. Even the battery life is 2 days and up with moderate to heavy use.

    For any one who doesn’t want to pay the smart phone plan all you have to do is buy one from eBay or newegg you’ll pay about the same price if not less when you figure the monthly savings.

    I use the E71 with 15 dollar MediaNet. I have no problems with reception. Actually I have the phone set to use nothing but 3G(3.5) with no issues. I wonder is FP2 justify’s any bump in price. Nokia decided to shit on the loyal customers I guess. Where is OUR FP2 upgrade???

    Why pay $200 for it when you could buy a brand new E71-2 for not much more ($300-$350)?

    Remember you will have to pay for the expensive $30 PDA data plan instead of using the $15 unlimited data plan with the E71-2.

    @Chuong,

    Hopefully it will..but I won’t be surprised if once we start selling it the IMEI sweeps will realize it’s a 71 and bump it to the $30…hopefully it won’t but AT

    I am willing to bet this will not hit on the 24th of March unless the folks over at the “Death Star” launch it in a few test markets.

    i have tried the Nokia email – the beta was a little unstable. i update my firmware and reloaded the Nokia email and it is working much better. Can you send and receive attachments on Emoze??

    i am also expecting this one to launch lower than $200

    I had the silver/gray E71-2 and I like the all black version better.

    I sold it because I can’t use 3G with T-Mobile. :-(

    Is it just me or is it missing the front camera and still more money then the E71-2? Why does AT&T seem to always delete the front cam?

    To answer Diane E. question,

    The Nokia E71x is Nokia E62 successor.

    Unfortunately the NokiaE62 requires a PDA Personal data plan $30

    So will the Nokia E71x,

    Me I’m using the Nokia E71 (unlocked) it’s not AT&T branded so I’m using the Data plan $15

    Unless you don’t update your IMEI, you can used the Data plan $15

    I’ve had the E71 NAM for about 5 months and I love it. I agree that the reception issues are there, but it’s not too bad….at least here in the Bay Area.

    The Nokia Email app is incredible when it works! Full push email, just like on a BB. I have my corporate IMAP email and Gmail linked to it and when it works (key word!) it’s amazing!

    Nokia Email is just so damned unreliable! About 40% of the time it won’t sync with the server. The email application that comes packaged with the E71 is terrible!

    I hope that with the added traffic the Nokia Email servers are going to have with new AT&T subscribers, it doesn’t bring things to a screeching halt!!!

    I’ve had an unlocked E71 on AT&T since August and pay $30/month for a shared data plan with my wife. Can’t imagine you’d have to pay more than $15 unless you wanted to add a family member.

    @RoBBold

    Shortest time for IMAP on e71 is 5 minutes, not 30. At 5 minutes the client typically just stays connected to the server, and gets mail as the server gets them. I have an e71, that is how it worked for me.
