LG Arena with US HSPA bands approved by the FCC

Having seen pre-orders in excess of one million units, the LG Arena KM900 clearly struck an emotional chord with mobile crazed customers in the Asian and European markets. Its lack of support for North American HSPA bands made many on this side of the Atlantic rather green with envy however, and they assumed they would not be able to get their hands on the first device to take advantage of the new S-Class 3D interface. Fear not! Thanks to the fine folks at the FCC we now know a variant of the Arena, the KM900QA, is on its way to the US complete with 850 and 1900 MHz HSPA bands. That’s right people — S-Class 3D UI, 480×800 3-inch touchscreen display, 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and aGPS… All coming your way soon enough.

@StevenGlansburg: Well since its GSM its not.

There is hope (maybe) the VX11000 cleared the FCC awhile back and its rumored to have similar specs with a slide out QWERTY.

@Agent: No, only ATT 3G loving here :)

Its nice and all but a couple of things to mention:
    - Standard battery, Li-Ion 1000 mAh + 3G = fail.
    - Dumbphone OS = makes pandas cry.

    One thing to mention:

    - Dumbphone OS = Cheaper data plan on ATT.

@Chuck: you can get the cheap data plan on pretty much any phone as long as its not in the A&TT IMEI database (like my unlocked Nokia)

More low-to-medium feature phones with proprietary OSs which deserve headlines? The 60 wasted seconds it took to read the reference article should be returned with interest!

It’s not a smartphone and I believe it’s GSM…. So that automatically makes it go to either T-Mobile or AT&T.

I got my LG Arena, still getting to grips with it; creating menu short cuts and fiddling with the ring tones and things but it’s the email that I find the most tricky to sort out. It can be a pain in the neck to set up, in my humble opinion, and always takes the longest of all the features in your phone to organise.

If you’re looking for some tips on how to sync up your email accounts on your KM900, check out http://www.LG-Arena.org They’ve got an all-encompassing, how-to on the subject.

You’ll be able to have your server and web based email trussed up in their relative accounts in no time.
