Evidence of new iPhones, new iPod Touch?
We got this information from one of our awesome Apple ninjas, (yes, that one) and here’s the deal… Basically when poking around in the iPhone OS 3.0 restore ramdisk, our guy found evidence of Apple’s upcoming hardware revisions. This includes new iPhones and iPod Touches. Yes, it looks like multiple hardware units. Now, this shouldn’t be taken as fact — we’re posting it for information sake. If we had to bet however, this seems right on. From our guy:
“Apple normally makes their device IDs in chronological order, from first released to last released. Here is what I found very interesting for you. Quick, here is an example of the past devices:
iPhone First Gen – 0×1290
iPod touch 1G – 0×1291
iPhone 3G – 0×1292
iPod touch 2G – 0×1293
Then, here is what is found in the ramdisk:
iPhone2,1 – 0×1294
iProd0,1 – 0×1295
iPod2,2 – 0×1296
iPhone3,1 – 0×1297
iFPGA – 0×1298
iPod3,1 – 0×1299″
As you can see, there are multiple new hardware IDs listed which makes us believe there will be more than one new iPhone model, and there also looks like there is more than one iPod Touch as well. Hit the jump for the information we were sent:

what is the point of this blog? everyone knows a new iphone is coming. ya don’t need to hack into an iphone to figure that out
Yes, most likely a new iphone WILL EVENTUALLY (YES I LIKE CAPS,RAGEE) but the question is when. Some people like me dont know if we should just wait out the summer or go with the iphone 3g.
talked to someone i now from at&t and yes it should be coming out very soon most likely april. i was told to wait to get an ipod for this new version-something was mentioned about more pixals. i wasn’t really paying attention

Man…I was going to order my 32gb ipod touch literally tonight…but now I can’t decide whether to risk it or wait till June..LATE June… Argh. I can get it for about 330 new. When I bought my ipod 30gb they came out with the 64GB 6 weeks later….maaan….Will these new ones be ridiculously priced? Can that be my reason for buying now?!

I was told last weekend not to buy a Iphone a new one is coming out very very soon. I had told the person that my other contract ran out either this month or by the end of summer and I was told to WAIT it will be coming out very soon. This person works for At&T and not on the store level much higher.
Maybe iProd is a new Apple PRODuct, not an iPhone or iPod…

If Apple are adamant that they will not produce a netbook then maybe they will bring out an iPodTouch with a 9″ screen, an SD media port, a mini usb port, bluetooth and wireless?
Maybe the iProd = new product maybe a new iBook, polycarbonate body, 9″ screen, 3 usb ports, one SD media slot and one 5 in 1 Media slot and ethernet.

i saw somewhere that either the updated version of the second gen (ipod2,2) or the third gen (ipod3,1) will come out in september. the only reason to buy it would be the processor speed because they haven’t leaked facts yet. the only downside would be apple blocking jailbreaking.

FPGA is a new technology still in its infancy, if I’m thinking right. A Field-Programmable Gate Array is able to program itself…perhaps Apple is going to be doing research on it, and just left tags in the iPod touch/ iPhone firmware?
It has been rumored that the new ipod touch and nano will both have cameras. I believe they both will because there have been 2 cases released for the ipod touch with camera holes recently, and also for thee nano. Apple also ordered a massive shipment for cameras modules 3 and 5 megapixles which would give the touch a 5 megapixle camera and the nano a 3. And last from what i saw here… in the ramddisk they found, iPhone2,1 – 0×1294, Which is the Iphone 3Gs. iProd0,1 – 0×1295, Which will be the nano. And iPod2,2 – 0×1296 Which will be the new ipod touch!
I hope the ipod touch won’t have a 7-9 inch screen or else it won’t be portable.
The iPhone is limited in size because it has to fit in your hand… BUT if Apple makes the Touch’s screen bigger they increase sales by selling Touches to iPhone owners too:->
I hope they see the sense and do it! But if they were going to do it for a 2009 model Touch it would SURELY have shown up as higher resolution screen in the os3 SDK

Well beleive or not the time has come, we’re expecting stock for a “batch” of ipods to come in on sept 1-2 because they currently are on “constraint”. All iphone stores have absolutely no stock for iphone 3Gs or most ipods(only if left over from previous stock) so save up for september ladies and gentlemen
