Pandora for BlackBerry finally launches
BlackBerry users rejoice, Pandora has finally released v1 of it’s custom internet radio streaming application this morning and long story short, it’s everything we’ve been waiting for. It’s… About… Time! We tested the app out on a Bold via AT&T 3G and it worked perfectly — no hiccups and no pauses or stutters. We also tested the various basic functionality such as song skipping, giving a song a thumb’s up or thumb’s down, pausing and creating a new station. Everything worked as it should, though skipping to the next track often took a tad longer than we would have liked. The fact that’s our biggest complaint should give you a pretty good idea of how happy we were with the app though. There’s some more popular Pandora functionality packed in of course, such as the ability to bookmark a song or artist, but we trailed off into a state of bliss before we could get into all that. At this point, after only a short time with the app, we would definitely call it the greatest thing to happen to music on a BlackBerry since, well, music on a BlackBerry. There is some bad news however… No (official) T-Mobile love and no support for the Storm for the time being. Ouch. If you’re a Pandora user with a non-T-Mobile ‘Berry though, hit the read link or go to pandora.com from your mobile browser and get streaming.

I’m about to give it a try on my Bold. Is the skip song limit still there? That’s the only thing I hated about Pandora.
Another iPhone app crosses over. Few more of the major ones (that you use more then once) and the “App advantage” is negated. People will choose their device based on price and preferred wireless carrier.
Awesome. Been waiting for this.
Not compatible with the Storm…WTF
It says the 8830 isn’t supported, but it let me download it? Huh??
No TMobile love probably because it’s not 3G and edge can’t stream fast enough. I tried Slacker Radio app on my Tmob Curve and it was a trying experience at best.
It notices that my 8830 isn’t OS 4.3 and doesn’t allow me to download it.
not the greatest thing in music to happen on a BB…the Slacker Radio caching feature is better.
Damn, you sure wasn’t kidding when you said it takes too long to skip to the next song. But overall, it’s pretty sweet.
On ATT BOLD says “no longer allow access to listeners located outside the U.S… we believe you are in Canada”
I am in NY !!!!!! WTF
works on t-mobile just fine
How do we solve world hunger? Is there life on another planet? Is there life after death? Will T-Mobile ever launch a 3G Blackberry????? Geeze!!!
@D50
As if anything is Storm compatible.
It works great on my Bold (AT&T). Finally, one less thing tethering me to the iPhone.
It didn’t look like it was using Wi-Fi though.. I’ll have to play with it more.
No Storm support. Something tells me that people aren’t taking the Storm seriously.
It says I’m in canada too. I’m at 5th and 92 in manhatten …..on a storm that’s not compatible (of course)
Speaking of blackberries…. when are the Blackberry Storm/Bold winners from that contest going to be announced? It ended over a week ago
Ok everyone, let’s take a walk down memory lane back to 2nd grade and review the difference between “its” and “it’s.”
Unfortunately it does not work on unbranded BB’s. I have an unbranded AT&T device and it gives me APN not specified errors on launching app. Then just spins while signing in. Tried reboots to no avail. Why do they need APN info for streaming music?!?!??
@Kyle
Options -> Advanced options -> TCP/IP:
Check both boxes, then
APN: wap.cingular
Username: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
Should work fine for you after that.
It’s working on my TMo Pearl. It plays choppy unless you pause it for a few seconds first.
UPDATE: Working now!! WOOT! APN settings weren’t enabled..
Using following APN settings:
APN= WAP.CINGULAR
user= WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
pass= CINGULAR1
that’s cuz you ain’t got 3G bro!! here’s to T-Mo joining the 3G crowd a few years later than everyone else LOL.
That’s so lame that it doesn’t work on my Curve 8900!
While I’d personally be _happier_ with something that would let me stream from last.fm, still… Woo!
