Motorola Evoke QA4 makes a cameo on Moto site

As Moto fans and curious passers-by alike sit waiting for more news on the next-generation Moto handsets we scooped back in December, one of a few interim items of interest has just popped up on Moto’s site. The Motorola Evoke QA4 is a bubbly but intriguing handset that hasn’t yet been officially announced, which makes it peculiar that it would appear on Motorola’s site. Odd, yes, but perhaps Moto is as eager to push out new handsets as we are to critique them. Little is known about the Evoke QA4 for the time being, though we would imagine an official announcement can’t be far off. All we have thus far is a feature phone with a slider form factor, 2.8″ touchscreen display, standard 12-button keypad and CDMA/EV-DO connectivity. At the same time, it’s a design that strays from most of the handsets the struggling manufacturer has issued in recent history so we’re going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Interest piqued? Fork over some personal info over on the Moto site to receive “periodic updates” via email.

This only means that Moto is breathlessly attempting to keep up with LG and Samsung and Nokia … When you can no longer keep pace, and deliver beyond expectations, you’re no longer relevant, regardless of the corporate logo. Here’s your sign Moto.

Anyone else feel like Backbeat lives in his mom’s basement and has a seriously disfigured face or weight problem? And take his anger out on these posts?

Those who have tested this phone have spoken about it on Howard forums. It was heading to US Cellular until it failed the approval process due to software issues. Too bad, because it would have been a nice addition to the lineup.

Isn’t the parent company for U.S. Cellular contemplating selling them? Failed approval doesn’t bode well

    @ Tim

That is SO true ! The last big thing they came out with was the RAZR which was like epic back in the day cause it was really thin, but nowadays, it doesn’t measure up with modern day competition at all. Even by “dumbphone” standards lol.

I have been a US Cellular customer for many years and I’m very happy with them. But I honestly would not mind if they got eaten up by a bigger carrier. It would mean a better selection of devices, IMO. But they do pride themselves on their extensive testing process, to make sure that they are better prepared to handle any bad situations once a phone goes on the shelves. As far as it being sold, I have no inside info, but I know that US Cellular operates with very little debt. But there is a Reuters report about investor unhappiness, so who knows.

The coolest thing about the device is what you can’t see – it’s the first phone in the world to implement mobile virtualization using OKL4 from Chicago-based Open Kernel Labs!
