New images of BlackBerry Niagra 9630 surface

That’s right people, it’s getting closer. We can almost taste it now in fact. The CDMA answer to the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and Curve 8900 has just popped up in a new round of live shots, this time a bit more clear than the last round. We also get a pretty clear glimpse of the back this time around, which could be a good thing or a bad thing. Apparently the faux leather on the Bold battery cover isn’t polarizing enough so RIM decided to up the ante. Yikes. What do you guys think — love it, hate it or who cares just give me a sexy new CDMA BlackBerry already?! Hit the jump for the shot of the back.

Thanks, Will!

Not surprised BGR would find some way to make a negative remark on a RIM product.

Hm, maybe it’s just the back, but am I the only one that thinks it might look kind of thick? (Eh, I know, I have a Palm Centro, I have no right to call other phones thick…)

Its just carbon fiber, thats what the back is made of. Its there to help keep the phone cool during use. Apparently carbon fiber does a better job of that than faux leather.

And im sure this is headed to verizon first. Maybe Sprint to follow

    @ cwcanty
Are you sure thats carbon fiber? It looks to me like its just a printed pattern back. Carbon fiber alwats has light and dark on each square. Even the fake carbon fiber faceplate on my Dell laptop looks more like carbon fiber than this. The more I look at it the more Im convinced its just a printed cover. Unless you were being sarcastic in which I blame the internet’s overwhelming fail of translating sarcasm.

That’s not real carbon fiber…the pattern isn’t even similar to it. Just some different pattern. Real carbon fiber would make this phone a tad too expensive.

The back is interesting. I was thinking carbon fiber like material like some of you. At this point I just want something to replace my 8830. Wifi or no wifi something new will be nice.

ATT is getting the 8900 so they don’t need this, it’s just a dual version of that anyway

i guarantee you that the blue dots disappear when you remove that plastic film.

thats right… there’s a plastic film covering the entire back in that shot, and once you remove this, that pattern disappears, which will leave you with….wait for it….

    …A BLACK PLASTIC COVER.

    the end.

The 9630 is ONLY for Verizon, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.

No way this is only VZW- maybe exclusive to begin with, but I would be shocked if Sprint didn’t get this eventually. (And of course, VZW being US-only, Canadian CDMA carriers will likely get this too)
