Sprint’s LG Rumor 2 official, goes on sale March 15th
Well lookie here — right on queue, the LG Rumor 2 gets all official with our pals at Sprint. Starting March 15th, past, present and future Sprint customers will be able to order the the slider-QWERTY for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. Aimed squarely at crazy text-obsessed youths, the Rumor 2 has a QVGA display, 1.3 megapixel camera (perfect for sexting), GPS, stereo Bluetooth, microSDHC support (up to 16GB) and a crummy 2.5mm headphone jack. Now for the strange part. As we said above, you can order the Rumor 2 starting March 15th, but you will only be able to get it in Black Titanium by visiting Sprint.com or calling 1-800-Sprint-1. However, if you can hold out until the 29th you will be able to order the phone in Vibrant Blue through the same channels. If you can manage to hibernate until April 19th, the Rumor 2 will be available in all retail outlets. kthxbai.
It sucks that the Rant is more powerful and this is the 2nd version
The 1.3MP camera and lack of EVDO would make me wonder why anyone would pick this up over the Rant for the same price.
@ VDubb – You hit the nail on the head. Even if your a text hungry teen and only like this phone for the QWERTY, the Rant offers the same feature set and includes EVDO for the same price.
Within a month this phone will be free with a new 2 yr contract.
I have to call telesales to get my phones anyway..which in most cases i get em weeks before. Id hold ot for the Blue version.
A touchscreen slider from LG or Samsung would be nice though. Sprint needs a low end touchscreen slider not just the Touch Pro And i know they make those for other carriers.

So much silly negatively. this phone will sell better than 90% of phones drooled over here.
Go to a sprint store and look at “ambassador” model. the screen on this is 10x better than on Rant or old Rumor.
My kid is a $15 a month add on, that $10 a month for her, $5 for unlimited text and 1x data unlimited has been on it for free and is inlcued free in our FIMF, 6 pm N/W and m2m and ou runlmited from home airave. She sends a bazillion texts a month and makes 100 minutes in billable calls on our 1250 minuter plan.
This phone is perfect for her and I bet more are sold by sprint this year than HTC Pro or Palm Pre.
LG updated a good and very popular phone with three or four nice improvements for the same price.
Those are two different classes of phones for different markets, do agree that this has a chance to sell more though

The whole Alltel base can’t buy if it goes by the divested market script the Palm Treo Pro is said to be following
