Apple iPhone 3.0 OS event March 17th, we got some info

So it looks like Apple’s planning on holding an event for iPhone 3.0 OS March 17th along with showing off an updated SDK. This would fit nicely with their brief history of having a preview software event followed by a hardware refresh in June/July. As far as what we’ve been told of iPhone 3.0, here’s what we’ve got:
- MMS
- Tethering via Bluetooth and USB
We’re working hard to get some more information and know that our list above isn’t exactly thorough, but hey, it’s something! Plus, there has to be copy and paste, right?

Everyone wishing for Flash: it is NOT going to happen. Adobe can’t produce flash that doesn’t suck for Mac OS X — think Apple will let them put some battery vampirizing piece of garbage on the iPhone? Not gonna happen, certainly not in 2009.
Apple intends for the open standard, HTML5 to kill and burry proprietary Flash.
@Ted T
You’re incorrect. Both Apple and Adobe have confirmed that Flash will be coming to the iPhone.
the iPhone will have everything that everyone complains about, or it already does in jailbroken form. get over it. there are other good phones, but the iPhone is still one of the best.
@Dash69
You are obviously an ignorant fanboy who knows nothing about the Blackberry.
I should have known based on your poor diction.

:] YAYAYAYAYAY!
about time for MMS!
Are you serious? If it doesn’t have copy/paste you are done with it? You will not find another phone in existence that does what the iphone does. Try appreciating what you have. Wtf do you need to copy and paste so much anyway?
hope this makes the iphone owners happy
I thought iPhone updates are always free iPod touch updates need to be paid for
When are we going to see update to the iPhone iCal app. Are we going to be able to send/accept meeting invites to our fellow iPhone user?
AD2P and Universal Search is all I want
This is awesome, I have been waiting for this for so long, hopefully along with mms ill be able to record videos without jailbreaking the phone
We already have MMS here in Portugal (thanks to Vodafone and Wit software)!
I want copy & paste, video recording, flash, multitasking, full bluetooth…
Jobs stated when the iphone was released All software updates would be free for the life of the phone. Lets hope he is not a politician and He keeps his campaign promises.
@John “Apple has confirmed Flash”
In some alternate universe maybe. Evidence please.
Tip: don’t waste your time, there is none. Apple wants HTML5, not Flash. Flash is dead in the long term, and not just on the iPhone.

The only time I’ve ever received MMS messages was from friends with stupid forwards, animated pictures, and silly music.
I’m sure I can do without.
Besides, in the dev-team I trust. Looking forward to a 3.0 jailbreak.
MMS i cant wait, i can send and receive pics. i
hope this actually works..i wont feel left out anymore. come on apple get wit it
@Jaxon All the article you link to confirms is that Adobe is blowing smoke.
Apple itself has never stated that they are working on Flash for the iPhone, or would accept a Flash iPhone App. from Adobe. It isn’t going to happen, folks. Adobe desperately wishing, and spreading misinformation won’t make it so.
I’m just some guy posting a comment, but read what John Gruber of Daring Fireball has to say on the subject of Flash on the iPhone. It. Is. Not. Happening. Adobe keeps trying insinuate otherwise, but it is 100% pure BS on their part.
@ Informed:
I agree with what you say about the iPhone 3G. However i totally disagree with your statement about the original iPhone.
It was not cutting egde??? It was the FIRST phone to intruduce a touch screen! It changed the way you perceive and interact with your phone, simply cause it’s not JUST a phone.
Its impact is and should be a case study in marketing, of how a device and a company can revolutionize a market, and influence consumers. The word “muti touch” was not even EXISTENT until the Iphone came out! Visual VM??? Yeah you were using that everyday I bet!
Amazing web browsing? Yeah you were doing that too on your 0.5″ screen!
Look at all the new phones. They all sport the obligatory touch screens now. How many did you see out there before the Iphone came out? Even RIM tried to immitaate that (we all know to what effect!)
Whether we like it or not people, the iPhone did revolutionize and changed the cell phone market. Period!
It could have been RIM, MS….but it was not. So there is something to be said about Apple’s management and as company.
As a device it’s not perfect but please let’s give credit to where credit is due.
Apple and AT&T really need to fix the terrible user experience using MMS on the iPhone in the US. I make the case here: http://blog.mcmanus-family.com/2008/09/the-case-for-mms-on-the-iphone.html
so maybe video will be enabled if MMS is supported? i want my video! (my treo did this for years!) also, cut/copy/paste would be SO handy… and sync thru BT (which I also could do w/ my treo)
@Informed who said: “I would hardly say others are trying to emulate the iphone.”
Try telling -that- to Samsung and LG. They seem to have a new iPhone-killer [with either a WinMo or proprietary OS] coming out every week somewhere in the world.
So download iPhone 3.0, Go on a pub crawl then MMS pics of your shilleleagh to everyone in your contact list.
