Verizon Wireless HTC Touch Diamond gets pictured

We got our hands on some pictures of a test model of the Verizon Wireless Touch Diamond rocking its sleek, black and shiny casing. Unlike Verizon’s Touch Pro, the Diamond has retained the characteristic faceted back. The Verizon version of the Touch Diamond has the following specs:

  • CPU: Qualcomm 7500A
  • Speed: 528 MHz
  • RAM size: 128MB
  • Flash size: 256MB
  • Display resolution: 480×640
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus

Looks like Big Red did indeed knock the memory down to 128/256MB but kept the processor speed at 528MHz and not 400MHz as was previously rumored. A microSD card slot is under the battery as a consolation for the drop in memory.  For those that must know, the Touch Diamond also has an accelerometer and comes with HTC’s tilting” game “Teeter”.  Aww, how nice! Hit the jump for a few more shots of the long awaited Verizon Wireless Touch Diamond.

Thanks, JM!

that’s true about the other touch pro’s, the original, the fuze, and the sprint version, but the touch pro for verizon sucks. they reduced the memory, used cheaper materials, and raised the price from the other ones. and if u look at the keyboard the m key is separated from the rest of the keyboard by an up arrow. and plus if you’ve ever had experience with it like i have, u would know that it lags terribly. also, it’s gps is locked and ur forced to use vz navigator. so don’t go saying that what i said was crap because i speak out of personal use not assumption.

This phone requires data plan from Verizon as well. A big let down on the spec. I’m sure the GPS is locked down to VZNavigator as well.

I like how different they look and the expandable, there was talk of crapware forced on phones eating up memory and making plans higher too. Verizon is the King of this and thier smartphone lineup is prime example

    Yall are stupid.

The memory is less, but if you READ it has a Micro SD slot!

Thats the only thing about this.

    NOTHING is crippled about it.

And Verizon unlocked all there phones GPS, the Touch Pro is unlocked for GPS.

Please, you people need to grow up!

RAM on storage. The normal diamond has 192MB RAM, this has 128MB. Diamond’s have 4GB STORAGE, this doesn’t have any but has a microSD slot instead. THAT I like better, but the RAM (memory) is lower. Memory in computer specifications is not how many files it can hold, but how many programs can be run at once.

what are you talking about says:

This version is not as quick as the GSM version. I carry a Diamond and my friend carries the pro and you can definitely see a difference in menu speed. I even tried to remove programs to speed this thing up but it was no help.

Vzw only unlocked GPS on RIM and the Omnia and Pro the last I read but that isn’t to recieved as true. I did read that was the plan, as far that part of thier restrictions on GPS are concerned

Seeing that this phone came out several months ago….you would think that this would be better than SPRINTS version but its not…who am i kiddin.

I dunno why Verizon even bothers sumtimes…so its safe to say…SPRINTS versions will always be better than verizons.

The faceted back isnt gonna make up for the rest of the stuff they took out. I wouldnt choose a Fuze over Sprints Touch Pro because of that…

Ya I so want to watch a movie, text message, make a call, add a calendar appt, check my contacts, play bubble breaker, see what’s in the city I’m in and use the internet all at the same time.

At least when I make a call at 5pm on a monday I know it will go through just fine.

I really hope it works out for those people that buy this phone, but its been out in Australia for some time and its a bit of a dud. I have one and I really want to like it, but my sim card is only in it for 24-48 hours before the frustration gets to me and I go to something else.

The Touchflo ui HTC have come up with is a nice way of hiding WinMo, but its just soooo slow and clumsy to use. HTC do get better each year though, so perhaps the Diamond 2 will be better.

the RAM and ROM statements aren’t 100% accurate…unless there are 2 versions of the VZW Touch Pro. It has 192 of RAM and 512 of ROM plus a micro sd slot under the battery cover

Sprint Diamond has 288 mb of Ram. GSM diamond has 192. That is a significant difference. And I just recently wished for more than 4gb of storage. But I have nearly all apps (almost 40) installed to card as well as Tom Tom and Garmin. No music or movies on there for me but I still have over 600mb left. By the time I need more than 4gb I’ll need a new phone.

that’s my phone (and hand), and whoever said it has the 4gb storage, it does not. it only has the micro sd slot under the battery cover. all the specs on this site are correct because i took them directly off my phone’s info screen. there’s a picture of it, but it’s hard to make out what it says :(

Why is Verizon releasing the Touch Diamond now? HTC just released the new Touch Diamond 2r. Can’t Verizon just wait and get the new one with WinMo 6.5. Releasing the old Diamond now just doesn’t seem to be a smart move. Who is gonna want to buy it if there is a better version coming out very soon.
