HTC’s 2009 line-up gets spec’d

A few of those handsets, most notably the Diamond2, Touch Pro2 and Magic have already been announced, but the rest of them have not. We have to be honest and say that a few of these handsets are standard fare for HTC, but the Firestone with it’s large touchscreen, 600MHz processor, 8 megapixel camera and WinMo 6.5 makes definitely looks like a device to watch for in the coming months. cool any idea on carriers?
I’m waiting for the tungsten (touch pro 2?), but it’s kinda lame that all of the carriers are ganna be getting it to. Eh.
Thor and Firestone would be cool.
Nice list! Can’t wait for some info on the if and when for the Sony X2
Same old QVGA screen on the Maple otherwise it’s a good WM standard phone.
where are the Android phones????? WinMo is not user friendly for the average mobile phone user. Carriers need more user friendly smartphones phones in order to get people into data plans. Why do you think the iPhone is sp popular. Put a normal iPhone out there next to an iPhone with WinMo(if it could be done) and see what most people choose.
Firestone certainly looks like a beast on paper, but I will have to wait and see how WM6.5 plays out.
Fuze looks great on paper, but, imho, plays out worse in reality than it’s previous incarnation (the tilt).
I’m rooting from something great from MS.
My girlfriend has the G1 but she likes how my Mogul with manilla better.
The next phones from HTC are gonna be named “Hulk”, “Medusa”, and “Zeus”
@Doug, do you work for a carrier? Why the concern about them being able to con, sorry get people onto their data plans, you on commission or something?
I think the creative department over at HTC are also Gnome Mages (World of Warcraft).
@boogalooboy –
I don’t work for a carrier. I just want more of an option when it comes to an Android phone. Also, if I was running a business, I would want people to spend more money with my company. I dont think having people sign up for a data package is a con at all, it is voluntary. Im sure there are plenty of poeple that want a phone like the iPhone but dont want to change their carrier for whatever reason. All I’m saying is more Android phones would do everyone some good. The customers would have more options and the carriers would have more opportunity to make more money. It really could be a win win situation.
It’s great to see HTC bringing better technology to the table. I can’t wait to see if anything… ANYTHING comes to T-mobile. I hate the Wing.
no pictures?????
WHY NO ANDROID?????????????
@all so an android is a phone that can be used on most carriers?
Why does the Twin have two processors? What is the purpose of it?
@Brian D. If you followed the read link on the bottom it says:
“Good news for T-Mobile USA subscribers is that, besides the Maple which is heading their way in May 2009, they are also getting the HTC Touch Pro, code-named Rhodium, around the same time.”
so you guys over at t-mo are gonna get the touch pro 2
Thor has a 4.8 inch screen? Typo, right?

I’m sick of my tilt and want to upgrade (either fuze or bold) and dont want to wait so long for a device. Knowing my luck the rhodium will be released earlier then expected if i do wast my upgrade. Oh well, i’m used to paying unsubsidized prices for my devices (paid over $900 for my Hermes)
Maybe some visuals are in order:

“Thor (aka Athena 2):
Qualcomm 8250 at 1GHz”
WTF
THAT seems to be the beastly one of the bunch.
@Jon: The second processor is likely a graphics chip. A few phones out there have two graphics chips(Touch Diamond, Nokia N95 & N82, to name a few)
It’s good to see T-Mo finally bringing a new WinMo Pro phone to their lineup [since the Wing was a disgrace] as well as a successor to the Dash.
Why would you release a 5 megapixel or 8 mega pixel camera phone with NO Flash, how stupid are HTC.
Answer : Very Stupid or they think we are, come on HTC pull your finger out.
Wowza these specs definitely whet the insatiable appetite for a new device .
Now its all up to where which phone will go to which carriers and price points .
