and yes, i totally did spell incompetent wrong. but anyways there are a few kids at the shack that actually do know a lot, my assumption is that you might be stuck with a store that has people who really don’t know jack shit. Alas, there are 4100 stores in the US, so don’t group us all in with unfortunately stupid people .

for the record. not all of the shack kids are incompetant. it just depends on whether the sales associate cares. or not. some of us do, which ultimately makes us smarter than the ones who dont. thats all.

I’m at a store where we carry AT&T, Sprint, and T-mobile. We arn’t getting Verizon, however the just opened a kiosk in the local target that does carry verizon, at&t, and T-mobile but not Sprint. go figure. Yes my district manager is a huge idiot. the hired him as a manager in LA that ran itself, the closed it and moved him up here as our dm cuz the old one quit. BTW i work my ass off to be a well trained and knowledgeable employee in all our products and so does everyone i work with. anyone who says we dont know shit needs to come check out my store and my co-workers.

Since Alltel was carried in certain RadioShacks and they were bought at by Verizon, those Radioshacks are carrying Verizon. Also certain Radioshacks will be carrying T-Mobile (like mine) in two weeks.

As a current TSM for RS, I have not heard anything about VZW other than selected Alltel stores will carry it.

The hype right now is RS getting the iPhone, not the Storm lol.

Physically speaking, with all the new tables and upgrades they added to stores last year, theres literally no room for another carrier. LOL

and to A&A I COMPLETELY agree! My DM is a jerk who rides around in his company car and gives us hell for dust on a peg.

Me and my coworker (who still work for the shack)came across this and we just want to say dont work here. is not worh it. the micromangement is horrible, and in radioshacks eyes we are not even humanbeings. we work ridiculous hours and never any spare time so that our dm and his boss become rich. this job sucks and isnt worth it.

OMG All this fighting about something that seems like no one knows about. As a manager at Radio Shack I can tell you that only 1/4 of the comments on here have the correct info. It is true that there are Verizon skus on our system and tags. That is because we are all connected to the same system in Texas. These skus were only recently added in there have not been any skus in our system since January 2006. The only stores that will need these are the ones that carried Alltel. As for people looking for this in Pennsylvania that will be no corporate stores with it. AT&T will not be leaving anytime soon and coming from my Regional manager Verizon will not be entering all stores any time soon. So for all you out there who do not work for Radio Shack , untill you know your facts don’t pretend to know whats going on.

we checked the skus in are store and it says only some stores are receiving verizon again my manager was just talking about it we havent heard anything about it until we looked up this article so if we start selling it yeah but if not oh well we still got att and sprint

I currently manage one of the radioshacks that is now carrying verizon wireless. It will only be carried in radioshacks that formerly carried unicel (rcc) and only untill att moves into those areas. Verizon may eventually be carried by the radioshacks that currently have alltel but only in the non-divested markets and only if att is not a viable service in those areas.

VZW will not be going back to radio shack natonwide. Only about 25+ stores today.. This happened because of the RCC merger and RS contracts. But no RS being launched natonwide.. this would have been announced.. and all the stores would have had to go through training.

Maybe you should reform how you’re implying things.

AT&T isn’t possibly the third largest telecommunications company simply because they only provide services in 3 different countries (as a company as a whole, meaning including wireless and landline, roaming is available for wireless subscribers.) Vodafone provides landline locally in over 40 counties. 02 in 40. T-Mobile provides landline in many foreign counties.

As far as the Radio Shack, you’re wrong…not me…check your stats.

That transition from VZW to ATT cost RS a good deal of $$$ in terms of marketing, write-downs on the old inventory, lost residuals, etc. VZW and RS were both trying to be greedy.

As an employee, there is no official word that this means anything. There is only rumors from sites like this. Nobody has said anything. We have no signs, no POP, no training, nothing. Only the things in the pictures. Which in my opinion may mean something, but not as soon as we all think.

There is no talk about this in the company that I have been able to hear. So for now, at least at my location, we will not have VZW.

IDIOTS!!!! I NEVER said WIRELESS! Good lord, read before speaking. OBVIOUSLY AT&T is not the largest WIRELESS company, nor did I EVER say they were. What I DID say was TELE-COMMUNICATIONS company! And YES the AT&T globe is considered to be the 3rd most recognized symbol in the world, behind the McDonalds Golden arches and the Coke label.

First off I CLEARLY wrote “tele-communications” company, NOT wireless. Try to read more clearly before commenting.
Second, AT&T has 7 years of an 11 year contract with RS left, so until that is done. Verizon will ONLY be offered in those RS locations that AT&T doesn’t service. Which is only 37 stores if I remeber the conference call I was JUST on. My statements are based on easily accessable facts and yours are biased opinion due to the fact that you work for Verizon……and opinions are truely like a..holes, everyones got one and they usually stink.

China Mobile is 1st.

Vondaphone is 2nd which owns half of VERIZON WIRELESS!

Next, the shack will offer Verizon is areas Verizon service is located.

not all at once, but will grow out.

Verizon will be at more stores in the US as time goes on because Verizon is in more places then your sucky AT&T.

AT&T SUCKS.

AT&T is not popular anymore.

HAHA, you must have worked there the same time I did. For me that was like 9 years ago. When i worked there the big hubbub was that Cellular One has just become ‘Cingular’.

I dont know whats more amazing, that Radioshack is going back to VZ or that they are still using the same POS software for their registers/ computers running win98.

BTW for the uninitiated, POS stands for “Point of Sale”, not “Piece Of Sh*t” like we all thought it was.

I also found the contacts section with the activation numbers and all markets are listed except the south. I guess the Northeast, Midwest and West can look forward to verizon heading to stores.

I believe this is new. Yes, you could hunt for the old skews.. But I’m actually working at the ’shack as I’m typing and our wireless spiff list now lists Verizon.
THIS WAS NEVER THERE BEFORE. Yeah, Alltel was listed, but we don’t carry it instore because only select markets will carry them.
But I can assure you, Verizon was NOT listed there, and radioshack did not carry verizon for a few years.
At the top of the Spiff list, it also states, ” last revised: 3/3/09″.

You people will report anything. Verizon bought Unicel and Alltel, right? Alltel is continuing under their own name for now but Unicel immediately becomes Verizon. RadioShack sells Unicel in my area. The store closest to me confirmed they will begin selling Verizon (they are a former Unicel store) because of the merger. They told me that only the 20+ stores in their area will be selling it. Hell, I even saw a RadioShack selling some mom and pop wireless carrier once. This doesn’t mean they all will. Geography guys!
