Mio makes Explora K70 official; look out Garmin
Oooooh Garmin. Your nuviphone should have been released eons ago and now you’re staring down the barrel of what looks to be some pretty steep and exciting competition in the Mio Explora K70. Mio made it known late last year that the company was cooking up a mobile handset and it appears as though the Taiwanese GPS company’s entrance into the mobile game will indeed be a sexy one. Specs, Jeeves:
- Windows Mobile Professional 6.1
- Quad band GSM / GPRS / EDGE connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
- Tri band HSDPA / HSUPA connectivity (850/1900/2100 MHz)
- 3.5 inch TFT 240 x 400 touchscreen display
- Qualcomm MSM7201A 528MHz processor
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, USB 2.0
- 3 megapixel camera, autofocus, geotagging support
- 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM
- MicroSDHC support
- Accelerometer
- GPS usage time: up to 4 hours
- Talk time: up to 4.5 hours
- Stand-by time: up to 200 hours
- 115 x 61.5 x 11.9 mm, 115 grams
No release timing or pricing has been announced thus far but don’t expect Mio to sit on this one anywhere near as long as Garmin has with its nuviphone. Hit the jump for another product shot.

How is that sexy? It looks like every other generic touch phone out there!
This is a very sexy phone but not when you put Windows Mobile on it and it doesnt look as though it can be upgraded to 6.5. This is about as sexy as a hot stripper with cow $h!t all over her. Why not Android? I would love to see more Android phones.
It’s about time! Beautiful, functional phones like this will sell.
That phone looks hecka nice; especially the back. But wouldn’t the battery die on this thing uber fast if you had to use both the GPS and talk on the phone on one charge?? Sounds like people are really going to be needing those car chargers. ^_^
Not bad looking at all but too bad it doesn’t have T-Mo US 3G.
Isn’t it amazing how different eyes can see completely different things? I think this phone looks amazing and very sleek. Nice specs, as well.
The phone looks nice well it was gonna be a killer if it ran Android winmo is so useless.

I was interested until I saw the lame screen resolution. What a waste…
>Windows Mobile Professional 6.1
Stopped reading right there.
@Jazzyl: I agree. Android would be awesome on this phone.
Does Android support WQVGA screens?
It can’t compete with the IPHONE
As others have said, windows mobile is pretty much useless, at least imo. The only way I would think about getting this is if it were able to jump to WM6.5/WM7 when it hits.
Looks like the LG VU with a minor facelift
WQVGA on a 3.5 inch screen? That looks all… terrible
This is a nice looking phone but WM is a major joke. I developed WM products and left that arena because of the crap MS made us put in the device and the hoops they made us jump through. I could easily see Android on this and it becoming a hugely successful phone.
