Apple products are totally worth it. I’ve had 5 different PCs in 6 years, and they all crashed, froze, and eventually broke. So I decided to switch to one of the new Macbooks, and I am so glad I did. It has not let me down once( it did not freeze or crash on me once in 5 months) The iMac looks really good. I can’t recommend Mac OS X enough.

@RON, interesting note. But, the thing is, few people need specs that high. Just give me a basic box for $500 plus a 22″ monitor for another $250 like you can get at DELL, and put MacOS on it.

And no, that 22″ monitor ain’t a cheap TN Panel one. The 2209wa is a eIPS panel that is getting good reviews for color accuracy and input lag.

Does this mean that the event on March 24 is off or does this mean that Apple has more desktop news coming for all of us? Is it possibly the prosumer desktop that slots in between the mac-mini and the mac-pro that will allow me to use my cinema display? Or is it possibly a home media server?

I would really like the Mac but like everyone else I can’t justify the price of Apple products. I’m not saying there not worth it, they are but they should work with the consumer expeacially in these days. I bought the iPhone when it first came out for example and paid the $650. I’ve learned and will wait. I’m also with post under me. If I bought one I’ll want to use it for a long time.

I’d want one of these a lot more if there were even a promised upgrade path to Blu Ray when Apple does see a viable way to integrate it.

If I spent $1500 on a Mac, I’d want to use it for at least 5 and hopefully 10 years. And yes, I think that’s possible given how fast computers are these days. But, without Blu-Ray, what’s the point?

The user experience is the best but price is a out of reach for many. I want the i-Phone and a Mac but cannot justify the price.

The changes to the Mac Mini may not be exciting, but it’s now a solid, viable product for the money. I’m glad they kept firewire.

Yeah, but then again, these are meant to be refreshes, not like a huge major revision to these systems. Although I do think the memory and CPU upgrades in speed are very welcome additions nice!

Agreed: blu-ray would have been nice. I am surprised that this is all we get considering how long it has been between refreshes. The video and RAM upgrade on the MacMini is nice.

Also, I have been disappointed by Apple’s lack of a numeric keyboard on a wireless keyboard. They had it in the past and then took it away: bring it back! I cannot imagine being at a desktop without a numeric keypad.

Blue Ray would have been a nice addition. I guess Sony’s JS Desktop Series is still looking like one of the best choices out there (Well, at least in my opinion). Affordable and well built; screen size isnt the best though. Okay, I’m rambling.

@BLackuLa, Not a big jump at all? lol, your kidding right? lets see, Bus speed went from 667Mhz to 1066MHz , Memory when from the average super slow that almost every PC come with DDR2 667 MHz to the new 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM, that’s not just a minor speed bump that’s a major one i think.

Definitely a respectable jump in the right direction. While I certainly love OS X, I can’t shell out twice as much for an iMac as I did my custom built PC.

The new iMac?- more like face-lifted iMac. With no Blu-ray, no multi-card reader and no wireless keyboard with numeric pad and only chip changes how is this an all new machine?

Thanks Apple for the power boost and price reduction but where are the additional features we were all waiting for?
