Picked mine up yesterday, absolutely awesome so far… texting is very easy with the keyboard attached. Without it is a little hard as I have big fingers.. The size is not very big at all, smaller than the dare without the keyboard attached and just smaller than the envy2 with the keyboard.. overall very good phone very responsive when flipped sideways.. definitely recommend for anyone looking for a verizon phone that is not a smart phone.

Everything Wildbill says is right on. I love my Versa. I didnot have to get a data package with it. Now I can’t wait to get the game controller. My 14 year old son bought his own and loves his too.

I called verizon and they said since its not a smartphone it will not require a data plan, but if you want visual voicemail its an extra 3 bucks…

johnny applseed: . It sounds like you’ve never even seen one in person, and your attempts at humor come off as extremely condescending and obnoxious to me.

p.s. It would be ‘technologically illiterate’

windbill: Thanks for the very well thought-out review, just another push for me to get it. Like others, the UI appeals to me and having big thumbs, so does the keyboard (and other module attachments, perhaps). Something I really appreciate is your mentioning of the keyboard’s added durability; I drop my phone a lot, and getting a touchscreen, the phone’s ability to withstand drops is a big plus for me. The one drawback seems to be the camera: compare it to the dare, my other main choice – 3.2megapixels and many different features, and it can record up to 120fps video and playback in slow motion. I don’t know why they didn’t do the same for the versa as it’s the one thing that’s holding me back, but I could always hope for a camera attachment.

I have had this phone since day one i waited to resign just for this particular phone.
Overall its a phone nothing special. The determing factor between this being a great phone and its status as a good phone is the simple fact of the lack of application your able to gt for the phone.
I have two screens that are dedicated for multimedia and applications. With restrictions Verizon has on its OS there arent any third party developers.
Which puts the phone in a paradox. Its advertised as the closest response the Iphone while not being a smartphone, but the iphone has the one main edge over every service provider and that is they opened their OS to innovation. Apple has Free apps and one which you have to purchase. The beauty in that is the competition that has spawned and enabled them to develop amazing software for free.
Verizon on the other hand is the mobile giant who decides that you have to pay for everything, they nickel and dime you to death and they dont even offer cutting edge technology. Phones that come out for verizon either have a track record from GSM carriers or have been developed as clones to previous hot phones. That company has never had one original idea.
Back to the lack of Apps though. I personally have a data package internet not “data” (dont ask me how they separate the 2 idk internet and data are usually considered the same thing but whatever.) The one weather app offered by Verizon is accu weather. That app was developed in the early 2000s and is quite out of date but instead of giving it to you for free, they make you buy a 3$ a month SUBSCRIPTION. And while you download the app they make you pay per MB of data 2$/1mb. NOw i could take that route or just surf the net for a minute to weather .com. OR i can go to the company that developed accu weather and sign up for text alerts for free because everyone has unlimited texting.
The phone as a whole is a very capable phone the touch is extremely responsive the keyboard (attachable) is awesome im very happy with that. THe phone is new and of course is buggy but i have assembled a list and sent it to IT and there should be an update in a couple months to fix little things.
But for the premium price the same as the Iphone. they’re ripping you off. The iphone is far more capable and the apps today are what make the phone and verizon doesn’t have it nor will ever be open to the idea of potentially losing money to a third party.

Yea because the Storm has had so many positive reviews. The storm is so damn clunky, and it is a piece of crap. Your just some tool who buys what the TV tells you to without any research

You fools who state think that a camera is as good as the MP are retards. Ahhh 2 is smaller than 5, so it must be worse. Look at the pictures taken by the phone, look better than most 3 MP cameras, research your stuff before commenting moron

wow jack do you think you can be pretentious dick. first of all the sheer features and capabilities of the BB Storm place it far ahead of and in a different class then the Versa. It would be like comparing you and me your a Dick who contributes no useful information, and i write quite a respectable review. Dick vs. normal person what do you think you ASS

    Jack Harra says:

Obviously its in a different class, the LG Versa is a phone, with some cool features, while The Storm is a smart phone, or PDA for morons like you. Comparing the storm to other smart phones on the market, it fails completely, it has a slow interface, the touch screen is unresponsive, and for a blackberry product it seems to miss completely. Like I said, do some research before you post you tool, but hey marketers love people like you, buying the crap they put out, and writing uninformed reviews so other tolls buy their crap.

oh and to steve who said-
“I have an LG Voyager. I looked at the Versa today. The physical qwerty keyboard didn’t have a send or end button. The virtual qwerty was no better than the dare. I’ll hang onto my Voyager.”
the qwerty keyboard DOES have a send AND an end button and you can make calls even when the keyboard is closed. its great. i don’t know if your blind n cant see that it actually DOES, but it does. actually go and look at the phone before telling people what it does and does not have. its misleading to people. thank you

i did buy this phone. i love. i looks akward at first glance but it only took me maybe a day to adjust and its simply amazing. the touch screen is good for eitherthe stylus or finger. its responsive. its a little top heavy but not nearly as much as u think it would be. plus the detachable part for the keyboard allows you to mix it up every now and then for a digital keyboard to a normal one. i switch backs almost everyday. i hope they make more modules for besides the gamepad and keyboard. like maybe different keyboards like a slider one or something. either way though i love the phone
