Pantech Matrix Pro available today online and at your local AT&T store

We knew this one was coming, thanks to the official announcement from AT&T and Pantech at last week’s MWC, but it looks like the two companies have gone ahead and made this bad boy available for the world to abuse. Early reports place the Pantech Matrix Pro in stores right…about…now. You can head down and pick one up for the oh-so-reasonable price of $179.99 after $50 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract. What does that $180 buy you? A Windows Mobile Standard-based dual slider phone with a 528mhz processor driving a 2.4″ QVGA screen, GPS and more. Sadly, there’s no Wi-Fi on this baby but AT&T seems to think that its 3G coverage should deliver all the high speed browsing power you could want. Hmmm. Overall, this looks like a solid upgrade to last year’s Pantech WM slider offering, though given the compromises made on that device, it wouldn’t be hard to top its lackluster performance. Anyone excited enough to head on down and give the Matrix Pro a try? Let us know!

I want the Nokia N97, but by the time it gets released it will be old news. I guess I’m stuck with an iPhone 3G for the time being.

Nokia Nseries are horrible why put so many features on a device that’s has lame battery life I actually want my phone to last more than 3 hours at the most. The n series I give credit to is the N 95 us version with the 1200mah battery, all the others are an epic fail !

First you call the iPhone an epic fail in the post about the LG watch and now you’re calling the N series an epic fail. While I’m not a big fan of nokia, they have made some good N series phones. And while I do own an iPhone, I’m no where close to an apple fanboy. But if my memory is correct, then I do believe the iPhone is the best selling phone in the US. I would hardly call that an epic fail. So mr picky, what phone do you use? Because I’m sure that it’s an epic fail!

I agree that the Duo was a horrible offering, Pantech seems to have a made a strong effort to improve the quality of their product. The matrix, breeze and slate, are decent devices (albeit slim on features). The specs on the matrix pro certainly look promising. I look forward to running it through the paces when I can get my hands on it.
