LG Watch Phone priced at $1,450; not even Dick Tracy wants one

Well, watch phone fans… It was fun while it lasted. When we first caught wind of the LG Watch Phone, we laughed. When LG unveiled it, we were silenced. When Orange reportedly priced it late last week, we laughed again — and then cried. For the time being this is a rumor as Orange and LG have yet to confirm it, but word on the street is LG’s Watch Phone will be announced by Orange soon for a whopping £1,000 ($1,454) or £500 ($727) on contract with a monthly rate of £40 ($58) and up. Wow. The 3G is great, the UI is nice, the touchscreen is cool and the functionality is respectable but the price? No, no, no. That ugly little Phenom watch phone isn’t looking so bad anymore, is it?

Thanks, Danger!

Way to much. The crowd who would be interested in this, is the same crowd not crazy enough to pay that much for it.

…For that price you could buy a Movado and a touch pro… or any other touch screen mobile for that matter. No one is going to pay that much, epic fail!

This is pretty cool! kinda way, way expensive though. hmph… I definitely se a price drop for this in the near future. They’re totally insane if they think people will go for this at that price point.

Does anyone seriously want to begin talking to their hand…on a regular basis? Really? With BT maybe this would be more practical, but sorry, the “bond” part of it just screams cheesey.

i would only get one if the battery and bt were really good, and spend maybe 300-400 at the most. using a headset, or even just the phone for emergeneces. or working out. i dont see this as a primary phone, someone would need 2 phones, a real one and this

Ha Power Rangers, that brings back memories. I mean if they priced this a whole lot lower then maybe I would get it, but there’s really no practical use for a cell phone watch.

Ditto on the Omega my plant ocean rocks.
I can see a market for this I mean rolex is about 5K and some higher end costs 10K if someone has a lot of money 1450 for a watch/phone isn’t that bad.

i think that someone got the price wrong. I highly doubt thjat that little thing is $700 WITH contract and $1400 without. The LG Renoir is one of their flagship phones and has many features and isnt even close to that much. My touch pro was $199.99 on a contract and im pretty sure it has more features than that watch phone. Heck, even the iphone unlocked isnt even $700. I do think that the watch phone is a cool concept (and it does look sleek and eye catching) but they should lower the price QUITE a bit and include a plethora of accesories.

When will LG STOP making phones/phone watches? They have not had a revolutionary phone since the first very mainstream camera phone (The LG VX6000). That is the last time I can remember them making a relevant phone that wasn’t a rip off. EVERYONE and their mother had that camera phone while held like 20 pictures. Haha…since then they have released garbage and rip offs of the sidekick/iphone.

Well this thing is nice but a little too overpriced well the price will be dropped sometime they (LG and Orange) will be forced to drop the price due to very low sales.
