HTC Touch Pro2 confirmed for North America, ETA is hazy
As you might recall, when HTC unveiled the Touch Pro2 and Touch Diamond2 during this year’s Mobile World Congress, all HTC would commit to was a Q2 European release. Obviously not wanting to have another Touch HD fiasco on its hands, it was widely speculated that HTC would not be so foolish as to leave North Americans high and dry with another extremely attractive handset this time around. The problem however, was that many were concerned a North American version of the Touch Pro2 would arrive quite some time after its release in Europe. In other words, most people eager to get their hands on the device would have already moved on by the time it actually reached US soil. Fear not, HTC fans; along came HTC’s official Twitter account to explain that “The Touch Pro2 will be broadly available in all major markets, including North America.” But when would this North American release be? Seven minutes later another tweet stated that the Touch Pro2 “Will start to roll it out late Q2.” It’s ambiguous at best, but could we be looking at a near-simultaneous North American/European release?

Love the new TouchFLO 3D and the fact that it is upgradable to WM6.5 for free. And glad to see the tilt screen coming back. Definitely the best WM phone with qwerty keyboard.

Touch Pro has been good to me but I will probably see what the new Android, Apple, and Palm devices look like before I consider an incremental upgrade. TouchFLO more than makes up for Microsoft’s neglect of UI updates and the functionality is certainly there. I have yet to find a better email solution for my work’s Exchange service. Still, there is too much coming out this year to get very excited right now.
Still has same Qualcomm cpu/gpu. Waiting for the better stuff coming out Q2/3 of 2009 from others instead.
Damn you HTC! I just bought a HTC Fuze last month! May have to sell it when Touch Pro 2 comes stateside…

I would never get this phone simply for the fact that i believe it’s going to AT&T. If it went to T-Mo then i would strongly consider it.
What is ambiguous about late 2nd quarter? That is a range of maybe 6 weeks.
The Pro2 was announced as having 6.1 on it. It was suggested that the U.S. introduction wou would have Mobile 6.5. Microsoft said no 6.11 phone will upgrade to 6.5. We need to know the status of the OS before deciding whether this is a good upgrade. HTC must provide this additional information. (Writing this on the Pro and I can’t see the complete text. Sorry if the words or sentences are mashed.)

@ jr: Actually that would be a range of about 3 months. Where are you getting 6 weeks from? Q2 refers to the 2nd quarter of the year, meaning the 2nd 3 months of the year (April-June).
So i guess i’m gonna wait until june huh BG?
