Is the RAZR3 aka Ruby VE1 back from the dead?

The last and only time we talked about the RAZR3 aka Ruby was when we reported that Motorola had pulled the plug on it in order to allocate more resources towards developing Android-based handsets. But now thanks to Mobile-Review, press images of the RAZR3, apparently to be named the Ruby VE1, have surfaced which leads us to believe one of two things — either these are old photos or there is indeed a possibility that the clam shell with 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi and a 5 megapixel shooter might actually find a way to market. Now, there is also the possibility that Motorola did not kill off the RAZR3 but simply delayed it while trying to find a new OS — something that would be necessary as this phone was rumored to be running on Symbian’s now defunct UIQ OS. At this point we’re not even sure anyone cares enough to figure this out.

    Why would anyone want this?
Why not get a pearl flip if you must have a clamshell instead of this dumbphone?

Similiar like Motorola Razr 2 but Motorola Razr 3 more powerfull, innovation and features. Motorola is the first brand produce flip phone so no worries about the flip quality because Motorola has experience to make flip phone, the hinge is no problem like Motorola Razr 2. I think like Motorola Razr 2 V8 has processor 500 Mhz; Motorola Razr 3 also have processor 500 Mhz or more faster like Motorola Z6 has processor 624 Mhz (the fastest processor for mobile phone).

That seems silly to have the camera pivot like that.

Unless the front screen is large enough to use the camera when closed.

BGR should do some digging see if he can find anymore out about this moto phone that Engadget posted the other day

I had a SE V800 with a pivoting camera and it was a good feature to protect the camera lens when pocketing the phone.

This RAZR design might be old and tired, but the specs on this RAZR3 are pretty decent if priced right. My biggest concern would be battery life. My RAZR2 V9x has pretty good battery life, and if they can maintain this the RAZR3 would be a nice flip phone.

What has kept me from using my RAZR2 V9x as anything more than a backup is the limit on what email accounts you can set up. No GMail, no .Mac email, no Verizon email. That’s what pushed my RAZR2 V9x to the “second backup” slot behind my Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220. Otherwise it’s a contender.

This phone looks really nice. As far as flip phones go, the Razr2 is the nicest looking, and feeling, device out there. This looks very nice

    @Motomania

Is your fastest processor based of dumbphones? secondly, good hinge on the razr, i think that phone could possibly have the highest oh shit my phone broke in half rate than any other phone…

go join the iPhone fanboy club so at least your not standing alone…

I hope symbain bars motorola from putting it on any phones, it would be a waste.

Motorola, your my Ford at heart, i hope you fail

    I don’t know….
give me the original r3 ruby back.
It was a bomb design, i don’t know why they changed it.
Perhaps they see something in the Pearl Flip that no one else sees.
That would explain motorola’ position in the mobile race. :-D
