Paid apps finally infiltrating Android Market?

We just got a tip that if you’re running the latest T-Mobile G1 OS, you’ll now see paid applications finally appear in the Android Market. We’re in the process of booting up our G1, so we can’t confirm this ourselves, but it sure as heck does seem likely. Anyone bought anything yet?
UPDATE: We’re not seeing paid apps either yet, hmm…
UPDATE 2: We just got some screenshots — there are definitely paid applications. Couple more shots after the break.
Thanks, Dawood

Well now there will be more developer support, because they can make a profit, and there will be much better quality apps. That’s why were excited.
seems like people that have ‘updated’ to the JF images are not seeing paid apps on the market. 1.41 and 1.43’s are not seeing them?
I think you need to reboot your phone first. I rebooted my phone and then I tried Market again and it was there.
I even bought an app called SMSpeaker for 99 cents. It reads out SMS messages to me and I have to say I am quite impressed. lol, can’t wait to prank by gf by leaving the phone under the pillow and texting it.
adnans, The screen shots above have the stainless looking taskbar, which would indicate that the phone is rooted.
My wifes G1 showed the paid apps at 10pm, mine is still not showing any.
haha so true. Thanks for saying it first.
Greatstuff , so far these apps aren’t worth buying .
But they should try implementing trial versions also .
Paid for apps are going to give G1 users a much better experience. People slam the iPhone for the stupid, useless apps, but most of those are free or just a buck, and mainly designed to show off the capabilities of the hardware and software. When you really pay for an app, like $7 – $30, you get some GOOD stuff.
I use Logmein Ignition to manage my servers remotely and just got through playing the iPhones version of GTA. Here’s to Android taking a bigger bite out of MS and RIM’s share…
I think you’re on to something.
As a person needing a new phone, I’m interested in seeing how much the paid apps add to the experience and usefulness of the android experience. While I doubt it will reach the mass of the iphone, I would be shocked if the android app market wasn’t second, well ahead of blackberry, palm, etc.
So irritating that android has what seems to be a successful looking appstore rim hasn’t done **** about getting one on the storm. I feel so lucky if I find a solid fee app.
im getting the paid apps coming up on my G1 but what im mad about is that they are the same exact thing as the free apps i downloaded in the past few weeks.
Paid apps are out but not all have them as of yet and purchases will be done via google checkout also it looks okay but nothing to blow a lot of money on at the moment and a lot of free apps have free versions and paid versions.
I’m in the NYC area and there are tons of paid apps in the AM now. They all suck so far other than the paid hello aim,Hello IM and Cupcake Rite but there’s at least 150 new apps including games all together. There is also menu option called VIEW,just paid apps.
Most of the apps I see in the Market are charging now. I’m all for charging for improvements, but a lot of these were free yesterday..Hmmmm
I am so excited for these. I already have spent like 40 bucks on apps and I just noticed paid apps infiltrating the store last night. I am still trying to decide if I am more excited for the developers to finally have some incenive to make a truly great app or if I am more elated to know that we will finally discover the dedicated G1 users. I know these kids who thought it was the new SideKick aren’t gonna pay 2.99 for a farting application, lol.
You set up a Google Market account it is easy much the same as the Amazon Mp3 store.
I can see the paid apps, when you press purchase you are directed to Google check out. I haven’t bought anything yet.
Oh thank god the paid apps are finally there! I couldn’t imagine what I’d do with myself without garbage assaulting my eyes constantly!
