Samsung makes the OmniaHD i8910 and Beat DJ official

When we first met the Acme i8910 in rumorsville we instantly fell in love and the more we learned, the sexier it got. Now that it’s gone all official on us as the Samsung OmniaHD we have to say, surprisingly, that we’re even more in love now than ever. Running a TouchWiz 3D-like GUI on top of S60 5th Edition, the OmniaHD is sure to please with its huge 3.7″ glass AMOLED touchscreen display, an 8 megapixel camera that shoots 720p video, HD video out, video calling, Wi-Fi, GPS and 8 to 16GB internal storage plus microSDHC support — all crammed into a 12.7mm thin aluminum body. Sexy? Yes. Smart? Yes. Must have? Hell yes. As for its third cousin twice removed, the Beat DJ, it’s hard to get excited about it with the OmniaHD wooing us so incessantly. We pretty much learned all there is to know when it was leaked just over a week ago – B&O sound, kitchy DJ tools, etc. Can we see that OmniaHD again?

Just for the heck of it, hit the jump for what has to be the lamest promo shot of all time.

The only problem I see with this it that it is running S60. This may not be a bad thing, but I’m a WM person myself. Hopefully they will release with a different OS here in NA.

I wonder what the resolution is… Every company has a different idea of what HD is.

most likely, Verizon will get it because they already have the original Omnia and will follow the line.

I doubt this comes to a U.S. carrier in 2009. Even if it does, it will fall short of expectations

Since the Omnia HD is running S60, does that mean it will have access to the Ovi Store in May? Or is that app source associated strictly with Nokia?
Looks and specs only mean so much in the modern market if limited by sub par application access.

the omnia took six months after euro release to show up in verizon stores so maybe by late 2009, early 2010 we can grab one

@THB, unfortunately, it probably won’t. I believe all of Nokia’s services don’t work on Samsung’s range of S60 handsets. Some Nokia apps can be hacked to work, but things like Ovi are not supported.

@Zak, the OmniaHD is capacitive. :\

I’d love to have this phone and you’re right…my Storm got old the day the Pre was announced…still wouldn’t leave Verizon for it but hopefully it comes our way. So many phoens are coming out it’s retarded.
