Nokia leaks lust-worthy 8 megapixel Nseries, N86, amidst a lukewarm showing at MWC

Before we get to Nokia’s showing at MWC today, we might as well start off with the handset that should have been announced in Barcelona this morning by our Finnish friends. Say hello to the N86 – leaked to the world this morning courtesy of… Nokia. The company has a history of being loose lipped but including info about an unannounced handset in a press pack has to be a new low. Hey, we’ll take it. The image above is extracted from a Nokia press document covering the background of Nokia’s business relationship with optics master Carl Zeiss. Little beyond the form factor can be ascertained from the document, though an image of the back of the phone does reveal a xenon flash to go along with that much anticipated 8 megapixel shooter. The screen looks to be a bit on the small side which makes us think it will not be touch-enabled but hey – baby steps. Nokia’s new Eseries sets are nice and all but this is the kit we want.

    Zach,

Actually, they announced the N86 at Showcase Nokia 2009 Singapore earlier today. Here is a link to a heck of a lot of photos on it:

Interestingly, it looks like an N85 refresh, so is probably Athlon from the roadmap.

Some Nokia’s have an odd look yes, but there are some downright nice ones.

This phone doesn’t shout fashion phone, but it isn’t ugly.

The key in the lower right has a “media key” shape, so is there no menu key? That would be very new for a nokia…..
