Sprint makes OTA firmware update available for the Samsung Instinct
According to Sprint, the Samsung Instinct is one of the carrier’s most popular handsets ever – having broken a variety of sales records shortly after its release. With all those Instincts floating around out there, it stands to reason that a fair number of BGR readers are packing this sexy little handset and today we’ve got some good news for you. Starting immediately, a new firmware version is available for the instinct – ES.M800 CA10 – and it’s bringing along a few slick new features with it. Here’s an unofficial change log, short and sweet:
- New RSS Reader
- Dynamic zoom via a new slider control in the browser
- Smart zoom (double tap)
- Various bug fixes
The OTA update is available now as we mentioned, so impatient readers can initiate the update immediately. Sprint will begin a network-initiated update push this coming Monday, February 16th, though we’re not sure what regions will get it first. No matter though, you know you’re just going to snag it yourself anyway.
finally grew a pair went for it, doesnt affect the pam use, but it doesnt seem to do anything else either
Is there a way to update my instinct if Im not in the USA? Is there a website I can download this? or does it need to be OTA?
They continue to upgrade this with the Android Instinct coming after the mini makes me really happy

This phone beats the I phone hands down.I mean hands down.I have a friend at work and he has a IPhone and he saw what my phone does and he pratically was furious.He pratically said you have all that for that price and I got this now I got to get another phone.People can say what they want I have had many phones but this phone out does any phone I have seen besides the ht touch I havent had that one people talk about it but they dont say what it does except its a nice phone well this phone kills the Iphone hands down.So all you Iphone lovers dont knock what you dont try I know what it does versus the Iphone ask my friend here at work who is mad as hell to spend all that money on a phone that does not do what mine does and it suppose to be the best.Listen anyone who says the Iphone is better than the Instinct they lied to ya!! Bottom line I can search from candy store to ice cream place anywhere I stand and it directs me there plus I can call the number like I was in a car with ONSTAR yes you here me!!GPS on this thing can do wonders just search click and road map and number of the place and where its located and drives me there and I can call in a order why I am at it.Are you kidding me all this on a phone.I like to see IPhone do that!!! LOL!! Sorry no it can’t and plus NFL network live broadcasting not taped!!How about that as well pluss more live TV.Put that in your pipe and smoke that hands down this phone does it all.
I have the Instinct and couldn’t be hapopier with the price, form, and functionality of this phone!! I wasn’t looking for an iPhone when I got this, but am more than pleased with everything this phone delivers.
I work with two guys that each own iPhones, and many times, they like what the Instinct can do; specifically the voice-activated software and turn-by-turn navigation. They usually ask me to search for something local at lunch, since the Instinct is faster than their newer iPhones. (Summer and Fall, 2008)
Now, the iPhone is coming out with a 3rd generation . . . interesting!
I would love to know what exactly these firmware updates consist of? Why is it I get new updates yet they are not noticeable AT ALL…I read about the new updates just to find out whats been updated….I usually end up reading that it fixed some issues with web browsing and crap but I’ve never had the issue before. It’s very bothersome when I was lied to thinking I was really getting an iphone competitor…they should of saved that marketing money for the palm pre. This thing doesn’t stand a chance against the iphone…just my opinion. I’ve used friends iPhones and iPod touches…theres really no comparison. I’ll quote what I read on someone else comment on a different forum. “The iPhone does what it does way better than the Instinct does what its supposed to do.” It’s so true, the instinct has all these cool features the iphone doesnt but it sucks at even completing its own tasks. Never mind trying to get apps or updates to compete with the iphone..at least make it it’s own unique phone. I would love to see some fun updates released. Like being able to make it more personal…if you think about it…everyones instinct looks exactly the same minus the “wallpaper”…I think its pathetic. I’ve been tempted to cancel my sprint services, go with t-mobile and just get my iphone cracked for it…or just settle with ipod touch…anyways..just expressing my thoughts about both partys.
also would love to see some normal T9 texting…honestly whats with the “ABC” function? thats a waste of time.
