Best Buy offering BlackBerry Curve 8900 for $149.99
Anticipation is mounting for those who didn’t get the chance to call in for their 8900 orders early. Even better news is that it looks like Best Buy might be offering it for just $149.99 with a two-years-of-your-life deal. It certainly beats the $299.99 price that many have paid, and will pay, coming straight out of T-Mobile. If your Curve 8320’s trackball is coming loose or that G1’s shine and appeal are beginning to wear, you know what to do. Of course, if contracts make you feel a little queasy, you can always pick this up at the contract-free price of $649.99 (from Best Buy) depending on which option makes you prefer. It’s the same old story – pay now or pay later.

Damnit Marc!
Now I’ve got to choose between this and that other device that just happens to be $149 and coming out in 2 days.
Such a hard decision.
What other device?
That paper says the 8900 costs $299 with a 2 year upgrade but is free with a 1 year upgrade. Either I missed something or their proofreaders did.
So wait, that must be wrong – Flexpay Contract: Free?
Wow.. Either that pricing is seriously messed up or they’ve lost their mind.. Why on earth would they have a MAIN BRAND NEW 2 year at 149.99 and then the secondary lines and Flex Pay FREE?? Companies get the most commission off of main lines… And like someone else pointed out – 299.99 for a 2yr Upgrade and FREE for a 1yr?? None of that sounds right..
No Exchange support… what is the point… Blackberrys are only good for BES Enabled servers… oh… I forgot to mention the great BB messengers. But seriously what is the point. The phone will always be the samething just witha lil upgrade to the cam… oh… GPS (like you are actually gonna use it unless you are lost). I will consider blackberry when they get there act straight and start supporting exchange. Other wise I will continue to support the iMMACulate iPhone!!! eat that Blackberry lovers
QUESTION:
If you buy it at this cheaper price through Best Buy, the catch is that you lose the customer support or service from T-Mobile that comes with buying it directly from T-Mobile correct?
It’s not a matter of proofreading. This postup is not a final version, therefore it includes some place-holder terms [FREE on 1-Yr contract extension and others].
Ninjas attack when they have the opportunity.
@backbeat – Ooooook.. Lol That makes so much more sense.
Hmm… Sounds kind of expensive for being what it is. Granted this puppy is definitely a device that can go head to head with a lot of what’s already out and about, I’m not feeling it too much.
Maybe next time BB. ^_^
Marc can you double check on the without contract price through Best Buy? I mean through Tmo direct (without contract) the phone is $499 (without tax).. quite a huge disparity in non-contract price.
Geemerk, bb does support exchange for owa and the bis support for freemail, which is what most users utilize is far supperior than the iphone…iphone’s app store is cool and also has several “cool” features but you can’t seriously say that the iphone’s crippled exchange support is superior!! I’m a macbook user but c’mon, you scream fanboy!! Db!!!!!
riddle me this. if my old curve is messed up and could be replaced because it’s still in warranty; if i take it in after the new curve comes out, do I score a new curve free of charge?
In all seriousness… I still have my 8320 and I have an exchange (active sync) server at work… It is called Kerio and it does work well with the iPhone. I cannot get the curve to sync contact, calendars and e-mails. What is the point if I have to pay for extra services to get the darn thing to work. Do not get me wrong I would like to use my Curve for for the purposes of have a Wireless synced calendar contacts and my entire inbox without using google sync services… but it does not work the way its supposed to. I am perfectly fine with the iPhone. By the way… if you look into Kerio.com, their mailserver kicka$$ as far as excahnge support. I have had no issues with that.
wait i got my 8900 on the feb 7th. Can i return it back to tmobile and buy it at bestbuy. I paid 320.00 – 100 mail in rebate = 220
Yeahh I loved my curve, the 8830 and hated the storm. I bought an iphone for 450, new on ebay and I can’t wait to get it. I can use it on tmobile and still pay my cheap azz phone bill.
I dont understand why new customers would get a lower price than existing customers. Should i (since i’m out of contract) cancel my plan now, then go get this in a day or so?? i dont understand the logic
The Pricing is all wrong!!
@Geemerk: Are you serious?? “When BlackBerry gets their act together??” No, I think it’s only you who gets lost. Didn’t the 2.2 upgrade improve stability in the map applications?? Because nobody needs GPS right?? It also greatly improved your HTML email and dropped calls, etc..etc…(it is a phone right??) But BlackBerry doesn’t know anything about email and stuff like that, right??
@ Drew…. yea I am serious, because you have no clue what the hell your saying… make some sense out of your accusations. All that you read is not necessarily true for every particular user…. right….??
Is there anyway somebody can confirm this pricing? I have had my 8900 Curve for over a week now and coming up on the time limit to return it and will do so if we know this phone is coming out soon at that price!!!! Please… anybody?!?!?!?!? If so, when do they start selling it because I just called Best Buy and they don’t have it.
Just got my BB Curve 8900 today at Bestbuy cause i work there for $149.99 with 2 yr. contract flex pay. Gotta love them! =)
The Mobile Zone has it for $250 and they offer $50 credit towards your new phone if you trade in any old phone. Without a contract they sell them for $465!!!WOW
AND THEY ARE ALWAYS IN STOCK AT WESTSHORE MALL IN TAMPA, FL!!!
Just got it of T-Mobile site for 149 no mail in rebate.
