Sprint Treo Pro not being released the 15th, new date TBD

We just got a hold of this internal Sprint newsflash stating that the Treo Pro, which we all assumed would launch on Sprint on the 15th, now meets the fate of a new “TBD” launch date. We’re not sure what’s up here, but the information is definitely legit — it’s a proven BGR ninja. We have reached out to Sprint and will update this post accordingly. We’re not sure there will be that many bummed out people, however. There’s something called the Palm Pre on the horizon… There’s a larger image after the jump.

UPDATE: Official statement from Sprint:

Sprint has not announced availability for the Treo Pro.  Sprint looks forward to welcoming this exciting, new device into our portfolio as soon as it has been approved through our customary testing process. We will share details on the correct availability date as soon as the standard testing of both the device and its interaction with our network has concluded. Thank you for your interest in Sprint products.”

@DonLouie / aka MrMultiLoginTroll who said: “I haven’t seen anything [about Treo Pro] cracked cases”

You’re simply not paying attention to your Jesus-company and haven’t been for months. Such is the life of a blind, cheerleading company Troll.

Phone case cracks? Google shows this to be something isolated to a single set of serial numbers in first week or so of GSM model with Palm replacing them on request. Sounds like a happy ending for those first run GSM Pro owners and a non issue for Sprint branded ones.

@Mo: What relevance does a GSM version VS CDMA version have on the identical plastic case in which each is produced? Nevermind … I’ll answer for you. None.

There has been no clear bottom-line regarding a beginning nor end to this issue, your apologia notwithstanding. Case cracks are continuing to be reported.

The article and others say it’s a software/hardware upgrade, nothing anywhere is saying the delay of Sprint’s version is related cases

Mo, you alluded to the updates working and the phone being ready for sale by 2/22 at the earliest and 3/15 at the latest. That’s a huge window

I will continue to ignore ignorant post and stay on topic, it’s called being an adult, I’ve been baited and fell for it before. The longer the Pro takes the less likely it catch on but with at least 3 months til the Pre comes, which all Palmites won’t flock to, it may be ok

backbeat: I pointed to the fact on the cases. Cracking isn’t even a problem with current GSM Pro. Apple has had production runs of cracking iPhone cases. They fixed it too. In any given week a group of make and model car could have a problem. Phones are assembled from parts made everywhere. The case part could have been made badly in 500 cases with the compounds or resins mixed at improper ratio or conditions. It happens. What counts is the response. Palm’s response: some understandable resistance at first as case cracks can come from user abuse, and then when they saw a pattern, replacement of affected units under warranty.

In short a perfect logical and good response to a perfectly common occurrence among product.

I wonder what you eat, drive and what electronics you use? Since ever brand you own has had some problem like this.

Which brand do you think has not had a problem like this? You have no answer.

Neither does more apologia to save your sacred [cash] cow.

The Treo Pro cracking case issues are still being reported on new equipment. There has been no definitive solution proposed nor provided. Those are the facts.

A year is the usual manufacturers warranty. I disagree about a smaller Instinct being less functional, smaller hands or that stylus may be needed

    Your statement is false.
I just read through all those links. In fact the Treo Pro users specifically isolated it to a early set of serial numbers as specifically noted on the treocentral site. the WM expert site is a mirror of the treocentral site. same company.

You actually just fully supported what I suggested might be the case.

They had a problem with a short prodcution run. They fixed it. They replaced the devices under warranty.

That is better than happened with my GM car. You should see the forums on that!

Backbeat do you have a mobile HANDSET? I will cite you 10 user complaints. I am sure I can find cracked case or equivalent complaints on your handset.

^Promptly provide the Palm documentation which validates your [empty] claim of specific serial numbers with dates of correction which demonstrate Palm’s corrective action regarding cracking cases. If it is as you say it is, these are easily obtainable records.

Mo, no matter what you provide will be torn down and eventually will be called a name, that’s starting, but it’s better to not reference the source because it’ll just derail from the topic. I really think that is the whole purpose, so back to topic, every time one of these delays is reported I can almost hear Palmites collectively groan

I would prefer this phone come out too but you don’t want it to come out buggy and slow like the Instinct. ATT did right by the Bold, don’t here many complaints about that since it came out. If Palm is your choice then wait, spice is the variety of life or something like that, so you may want to venture out. I did, as far as manufacturers go, disappointed with the 1st and 2nd pleasently suprised me. I be eyeballing Palm too but for another device

I am also waiting for the Treo Pro from Sprint. Yes it runs WinMo which sucks for us PalmOS users, but we can use StyleTap (www.styletap.com) to get from here to there, and I want to use existing WinMo apps too. The Pre is an ok idea, but I want tons of existing apps and a hardware keyboard.
