Sprint EOL list reveals target Palm Pre launch, plenty more

Sprint customers, have you found yourself wondering what Hesse & Co. have in store for you this year beyond the illustrious Palm Pre? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. While we can’t post the list itself, one of our ninjas came through with a tasty internal document that may shed some light on things for you. It doesn’t cover all of the handsets Sprint has in store for 2009 but it does shed some light on a few handsets we’re all eagerly awaiting. Note that this is an End of Life (EOL) list so the replacement devices may add an element of confusion. Some of the handsets listed below are already released, such as the Motorola i365 and the Samsung M220, yet they are listed next to dates in the future. This simply means that these handsets will fill any gaps left by the corresponding EOL device. As for the handsets on the list that are not yet released, the EOL dates represent the target death of the EOL handset (in the warehouse, existing store inventory will still be sold) and the target in stock-date at Sprint’s warehouses for its replacement. In other words, these replacement devices are projected to be in stock by the dates specified so a release on or around said date is most likely a safe bet. So without further ado, hit the jump and soak up all that Sprint handset goodness we’ve extracted from the EOL document for you.

UPDATE: To clarify a bit of confusion, the sheet shows a target in-stock date of 3/15 for the Pre. It also shows that it will be replacing the Palm 755P which has a projected EOL in late May. For comparison sake, the Treo Pro shows a target in-stock date of 2/15, replacing the 800W which has a projected EOL in April. For the Treo Pro, we know that the target in-stock date corresponds with the launch of 2/15. This could indeed put the Pre launch on or around 3/15, but we wouldn’t bet on it. Sprint wants to move their stock of Treo 755Ps before they get to the Pre, and if we were a betting bunch, we’d peg the Pre release closer to May/Early June than Mid-March.

@DonLouie/ aka MrMultiLoginBitchBoy: You don’t like insults? Stop insulting the intelligence of readers and who knows what may come of it. I’m unconcerned whether you’re amused or not. You’re a Sprint-stooge, plain and simple, and no apologies are offered nor warranted.

Thanks for elevating the conversation to that of ‘knuckle-dragging’.

Treo Pro by 2/15, Pre by 3/15, Moto i365IS this month, Rumor II this month, LG LX370 in April, an aircard this month and another in July. That’s not even the everything, some more clues on the rest of what’s coming would be nice. I am at a lose at to why the Diamond is on that list but the Touch isn’t.

When the Android Instinct finally hits, I may forego my 2 week hold policy because it will get better w/updates like the original Instinct eventually did. The Pre is exempt from that rule because BM wants it, me too but I can’t tellher know. Wait for it….

True the Pro looks to be a great phone, but I wouldn’t call the Pre just a “good phone.” It is a great play as a Centro replacement for the entry level portion of the smartphone market. Not a power-business user phone, but up against the Centro and Instinct the Pre does look great.

Looks like you consider the Treo Pro to be a better phone than the Pre. I would put the Centro up against the Pro not the Pre.

The Pro has been pushed back so Pre is robbbly going to follow that same path, sucks

As I read through this thread it doesn’t appear you have anything constructive to say regarding Sprint or Palm.
I am ready for a new phone and went into a Sprint store. I thought I wanted the high-end HTC that has Windows on it. The Sprint guy said we have Blackberry folks, Window folks, and Palm folks. You like Palm. Stay with it. Just wait for the new Palm to come out and you will be happy. The Pre won 3 awards at the show. That’s good enough for me!

    Pro to replace 800w.

If the Pre is replacing the Centro that would have make it super cheap then. I see the Pre hitting a new niche w/the Pro taking the place of the 800

Phone and Carrier needs, both personal and professional, change over time. There is no need to blindly drink the same koolade you were addicted to a decade ago, when the past has taught us so many lessons. That’s the very definition of insanity. ;)

Seriously though, if it weren’t for the company i work for blocking my internet and allowing only this site and one other, the backbeat situation would be enough to make me go somewhere else for my phone/gadget scoops.
