Sprint EOL list reveals target Palm Pre launch, plenty more

Sprint customers, have you found yourself wondering what Hesse & Co. have in store for you this year beyond the illustrious Palm Pre? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. While we can’t post the list itself, one of our ninjas came through with a tasty internal document that may shed some light on things for you. It doesn’t cover all of the handsets Sprint has in store for 2009 but it does shed some light on a few handsets we’re all eagerly awaiting. Note that this is an End of Life (EOL) list so the replacement devices may add an element of confusion. Some of the handsets listed below are already released, such as the Motorola i365 and the Samsung M220, yet they are listed next to dates in the future. This simply means that these handsets will fill any gaps left by the corresponding EOL device. As for the handsets on the list that are not yet released, the EOL dates represent the target death of the EOL handset (in the warehouse, existing store inventory will still be sold) and the target in stock-date at Sprint’s warehouses for its replacement. In other words, these replacement devices are projected to be in stock by the dates specified so a release on or around said date is most likely a safe bet. So without further ado, hit the jump and soak up all that Sprint handset goodness we’ve extracted from the EOL document for you.
UPDATE: To clarify a bit of confusion, the sheet shows a target in-stock date of 3/15 for the Pre. It also shows that it will be replacing the Palm 755P which has a projected EOL in late May. For comparison sake, the Treo Pro shows a target in-stock date of 2/15, replacing the 800W which has a projected EOL in April. For the Treo Pro, we know that the target in-stock date corresponds with the launch of 2/15. This could indeed put the Pre launch on or around 3/15, but we wouldn’t bet on it. Sprint wants to move their stock of Treo 755Ps before they get to the Pre, and if we were a betting bunch, we’d peg the Pre release closer to May/Early June than Mid-March.

Am I reading something wrong? It seems to say that the 755P is EOL in May and the Pre is in stock MARCH 15 (not may as in the text)
Easy Come / Easy Go for that magnificent Treo 800w with its multi-hour battery and crippled GPS. Should’ve been killed in its cradle.
Looks like Centro is finally going to its grave too. With no further development going into POS, just say “buhbye” to Palm (outside of the upsoming non-secured, yet always-connected, new FisherPrice toy, the Pre). This allows better competition among those who can deliver.
You state in the article May 15th for the Pre but after the jump it says 3/15. Can you clear up which one it is?
Palm set for May or March?
***Palm Pre***
Sorry
Kurt/Dan/Scott – The projected warehouse EOL for the 755P is in late May, while the target in-stock date at the warehouse for the Pre is 3/15
I’m confused. Is the Pre set for 3/15 or May 15?
Zach,
So do you expect Pre Launch in March based or in May (as you state in the write up)?
May as a general launch window and perhaps April 15 (a la Tax Day) if enough inventory is produced by HTC (ooops did I say that out loud?). Sprint and Palm will stockpile these babies to meet demand as Apple did when it launched the Iphone. Thus-insane demand that just seems to be met over and over again. For those who have not used or seen a Pre and call it a “Fisher Price toy”-wait….just wait and see…it is certainly the real deal. Part of the wait is the continued re-negotiations of the exclusivity period as Sprint is willing to pony up more ad revenue and have a great exclusivity but Palm certainly intends this to go to every carrier. April or May, depending on inventory that is prepped and software finalization (which should be a breeze given the WebOS) so not to have another BB Storm-like fiasco.
Basically that May date is projected to be END OF LIFE…NOT launch….March they suspect them to be in the warehouse so they should be sold soon..So basically around March 15 yah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so the 7100i will no longer be available as of Aug 2009, does this mean if my device crashes and needs to be replaced will they give me an 8350i… or burn up any inventory of what they have left of the 7100i’s?
Where are the new BlackBerrys?? Is this list correct?
I seriously hope HTC’s build quality has improved since the time of the Prophets. I worked for a company that rebranded and sold HTC devices and while there build quality was better than some there were still failure rates circa 10%
@crashoverride: It’s purty.
Believe me, we want Sprint to keep this as exclusive as long as possible.
I cannot wait to pony up the ETF and ditch my iPhone for the Pre. I will however be quite sad to leave AT&T
I <3 GSM, it feels like a huge step back to go to a CDMA-only phone.
Your “we” is a minority, on a good portion of blog sites I see mostly vzw subs and some att subs asking when will they get it. One person that was so adamant not to get Sprint said they would pay for an unlocked GSM one to use with att.
^Who said your insignificant ass was a part of what I referred to as ‘we’?
More multi-nicknamed sub? … Like you, troll? You go with that.
Idiot.
^ Yeah, but backbeat is an irrational Sprint and Palm hater so he wants to keep the objects of his fixation tied together. The rest of us are just looking forward to seeing whether the new device lives up to the hype.
I’m guessing she’s signed to vzw because he defends them and hates to see known Sprint posters in any of those threads. What I find funny about her is how quick she recognizes the troll in others but that same character flaw is escaping her
ni niagra news.
How often must it be repeated to you, LouieBoy, that we have contracts with several carriers.
Truth’s a bitch.
“Irrational” would convey that one has no tangible, practical experience with either party, Duder. You’re quite wrong on all counts.
I’m also willing to see what this new OS has to offer, but the hype of one Mr. Skilling, the ancient Handspring corporate lug who brought you the Treo90 as Director of New Product Development, is the new Savior now bringing you the Pre with ‘borrowed’ design elements.
Keep swingin’, Slugger.
Wonder if the EOL on the pearl means the 8230 is close. Not a fan of suretype at all but a flip bb on sprint would do well with the younger crowd.
Why would anyone have a problem leaving ATT, the network with the least bars and most outages, go to Sprint’s CDMA network? Lol
Conspicuously missing is the BlackBerry 8830 being replaced by the BlackBerry 9030 (Niagara). Are they NOT EOF’ing the 8830? We have heard several times over several months that they are preparing to do so… What’s the deal?
