BlackBerry users aren’t through the storm yet, BES still down for many
Yesterday we reported a major data outage plaguing BlackBerry users across the country and while certain regions seem to be back in action today, many BlackBerry users are still left wondering when their service might be restored. Issues in the southern region reportedly resulted from the severing of a fiber line but that can hardly account for the massive outages experienced all day long, spanning from coast to coast. We’re still waiting for word on possible causes but while service has been restored for many BlackBerry users at this point, many more are still left without data. We spoke to our pals at AT&T, one of the carriers whose customers are still affected, and information was scarce at best. All they could tell us was that BES is still down for many, it’s a RIM issue and RIM’s engineers are “working on it”. We know several areas of the Northeast are still without service, including many in the New York / New Jersey region, but AT&T claims only enterprise customers are still affected at this point.
Unfortunately for those still without data, all you can do is wait patiently for service to be restored and try to maintain your indoor voice when calling and asking for a credit on your bill. Remember, this is a RIM issue so there really isn’t anything carriers can do. We’re well past the 24-hour mark, making this one of the more serious outages in recent history and at this point all we can say is… Step it up RIM! Hello! Has anyone ever heard of conspiracy theory?! Think on this for a second.. President Obama’s BB im sure is working just fine along with the rest of his minions while the network for Rim is “down” laughable.. Its a ploy.. American might need to wake up before it’s to late to smell the roses..

Outages are still affecting large areas. We have 4000+ bbs and working with all carriers to find out why service is lost. Not all users are affected but enough to make my morning busy. It seems people are getting “data connection refused” or edge instead of EDGE. At&t blames RIM and RIM says its At&t. That well and good except the T-mobile users who were/are having the exact same issue.
By the way, never using a BB because of multiple whatever nonsense is absurd. Remember the one underlying premise of all manufacturers, devices and service providers: they are all great and they all suck.
Houston with AT&T BES. Had “data connection refused” and lowercase “edge” all day yesterday morning and afternoon. Service was restored in the evening and all is good again.

The issue was with BIS (not BES) and I’ve heard from both RIM and the carrier that the problem was fixed yesterday, which seems consistent with what I heard from other people. And mine is working fine. If you’re having a problem today, you should call your carrier or your ISP because it is probably a local issue.
College Station here and I was only down for a couple of hours yesterday. All is good today.
No lack of data service on either of my Verizon Blackberry, but I don’t use BES.
We haven’t had any reports come in today about any issues either on BES or BIS.
I’m a verizon BB owner and mine was down yesterday but I got a flood of e-mail around 9pm and haven’t had a problem since.

I have been having trouble in NY on ATT for two days now. E-mails just do not reach my BB no matter what!
Never had any issues like this and its hurting me bad.
verizon in nyc, my BES was fine all day, starting getting sporadic BIS last night, and full BIS service this AM about 3:45
A ploy to accomplish what exactly? And fyi Obamas email doesn not go through RIM infrastructure…duh the govt has there own secure email servers.
I have some BIS users down in Northern Arizona.
Mine was BIS and down yesterday in Los Angeles, but came back up last night. No problems since. Is it BES now? I’m on AT&T.
And what conspiracy? Show me a phone or carrier that you say has no problems and I’ll show you a fanboy.
I havent had any issues…better yet I never have issues with Big Red. I highly doubt this is RIMs fault. Seems to be more so an AT&T issue. C’mon, we all know that AT&T is infamous for outages whether its the Iphone or Blackberry.
