Sprint and Boost Mobile announce the Motorola Stature i9
A little over a week ago a Boost flyer advertising its new unlimited all-you-eat plan hinted that the i9 was “coming soon”. The wait is now over as Sprint and Boost Mobile officially announced the new Motorola Stature i9. The ultra slim i9 is a mere 15mm thick and sports a touch sensitive exterior flip with ModeShift that changes the exterior keys based upon the user’s current application. The i9 also packs a 3.1MP camera with flash and auto focus, integrated music player, GPS, Bluetooth and, being an iDEN phone, rock solid PTT functionality. The new Moto will be available for Boost Mobile towards the end of February with Sprint getting the device soon thereafter. It will set you back $299 from Boost Mobile without a contract (ouch) and $199 from Sprint Nextel after a $50 mail-in-rebate and a 2 year agreement.
Considering this phone is targeted largely at the prepaid wireless audience, the pricetag seems too steep.All in all, nice handset still.

I think the price is actually fair since it is on Boost and they just introduced their unlimited plan for $50. Had this not been the case, then yes, this phone would have been way too expensive for the pre-paid crowd.
The phone is cool, boost is also the largest market in my area so I won’t have a problem moving these phones.

No , it came out at the right time, with the way ever thing is going on in the world to day. People need a break. And justduyu do you no of a plane that is cheaper. I’m thinking about making the switch, pretty much all of my friends have Nextel or Boost and they use the PTT. I think that PTT is cool, metroPCS has something LIKE it… But it comes up too short.
…I have the Blackberry Curve FOR metroPCS, paid around $500 for it out the door, everythings works like it should, but the fucking service! In the Oakland county part of MI. Down streets it will have no signal and won’t get its EVDO working. metroPCS better put some more towers up and improve their signal.
Things about boost I like: PTT, and the i9, the signal it has. Things I don’t like about it is the internet.
Things I like about metro is the blackberry, the data. Things I don’t like is the $50 plan is in actually almost $58 after you pay the $5 fees and the taxes. And I don’t like poor signal strenth it is… If you’re getting on metroPCS get the blackberry for metro, don’t flash a blackberry to the network (if you flash it, you’re able to just use the calling and sms text)
