There is a website that allows you to view Flash content on the iPhone through bookmarks in Safari. It works really well. So I think native support for flash should have been includes for the iPhone from the start. No flash support has been a cop out for almost every mobile device in history. Blocking the development was probably done to put focus on apples SDK developer kit for the app store.

just wonder how long apple been making phones, compare to Blackberry?

@David Thande: You have obviously have no need for a device capable of delivering a good multimedia (music/video/web) experience. The iPhone is not a full featured replacement for your crackberry/winhack devices. For what it was designed to do, it has no real competition to date (including the app store, etc). Android is promising, but has no good hardware to show itself on. I think you are dead wrong about the demographic as well, but we would need some real data to argue that one.

Back to the topic at hand, I believe (as some have previously state) the iPhone is unlikely to have enough resource to run full out Flash. If Apple does release an update device it will most likely have a CPU speed boost (like the Touch 2G), maybe more ram/better camera and HSUPA (drool) – even then I don’t see it running embedded flash. I think most likely they are talking about flash-based games/widgets. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m thinking the same thing. This will probably be in the 3rd gen iPhone. With flash enabled the new iPhone will have more onboard memory to let flash sites run smoothly.

I picked up a Palm Pro at Best Buy last week, which runs windows mobile, and which supports flash quite nicely.

Apple and Adobe have been in a pissing constant for a while now. Adobe feels somewhat threatened about Apple possibly working on a top secret graphics suite to rival their Creative Suite on Mac.

I imagine this will appear on the next iteration of the iPhone due to the significant resource requirements of the full-fledged Flash software. Additionally it would be a provide a strong incentive for current iPhone users to upgrade … meaning, of course, more $$$ for Apple.

@donnie, Not really, i believe the Palm Pre will have the old Flash Lite which is exactly what Apple said from day one that they didn’t want cause it’s crappy, the Palm Pre looks promising but remember most not all of the cool things it does the iphone did 2 years ago so Apple might surprise everyone again this coming june, hey you never know

Apple is finally willing to work with Adobe on getting flash on the iPhone, only AFTER word leaked out that Palm’s new WebOS will support flash.

Too late foos! There’s a new Jesus phone in town and it’s name is the Palm Pre.
