E71 appears on Nokia site in both red and black
While S60 fans here in the US anxiously await the arrival of AT&T’s E71x, provided they haven’t already bought and sold their E71 months ago, Nokia is getting ready to push out the color refresh we caught wind of last month. The E71 page on Nokia’s site now includes a fresh Flash banner front and center that proudly showcases the new red / silver and black color choices. The online shop still limits purchase options to silver or white, though we imagine that will soon change once stock is received. Lack of any indication on Nokia’s US site leads us to believe the new colors will apply to the European variant only, but you never know. While the red / silver version is a tad too, umm, spicy for our taste, the black version definitely has some appeal. AT&T seems to agree, as its E71x looks to have opted for the darker garb. Hopefully we see some movement from AT&T soon because new details on the E71x’s arrival has been scarce since the user manual made a brief appearance on Nokia’s site earlier this month.
Thanks, Justin!

The new black variant does look great but, for me, the original steel version is still the best – especially when you match it with the new back themes that are built in to the latest firmware. Looks great!
I really wish T-Mobile would have picked this up in the US. Played around with both this and the Curve 8900 back in the UK and I would have gone for this over the Curve 8900, but there’s no way i’m leaving T-mobile…customer service is just too good
In fact, when I upgrade to the 8900, it will be my first non Nokia handset in 10 years of owning a cellphone.
Or you could pick up a BB Curve 8900 for a good price, flip it (eBay or craigslist), and buy an unlocked/unbranded E71.
I am using an E71-2 with T-Mobile and I love it.
Chuong,
Very true, I could do that. Are all the features fully available on an unlocked/unbranded phone? I thought there was something wacky with the bands or frequencies that TMO use in the US? I’m not that knowledgeable or techie on the subject though…
Why doesn’t Nokia drop S60? That OS is starting to look as old and out of date as Palm OS.
You’re out 3G when you go the T-Mobile route. I just bought an E71 unlocked – and a few days later it showed up $60 less on Newegg. Lowest price I’ve seen is $299 . . . so jump on that. (I’m kicking myself right now.)
@You Look Adopted
The E71 won’t work with T-Mo’s 3G since it has a different frequency
BTW, I’m considering this phone and the new 8900… I’m opening a new T-Mo account. Which one should I get?
me either. debating between the black e71 and the 8900… decisions, decisions.
Yeah I bought and sold my E71 call-dropping mofo a while ago.

I read somewhere that you could sign up for new servuce at select Best Buys and choose an unlocked S60 handset with a subsidized price.
S60 maybe old…..but it is still the worlds most popular OS….as for dropping calls, I haven’t had any that I can remember..
^ Isn’t that basically a contradiction?
Unlocked with a subsidy?
please explain……
I never thought that I’d be able to leave blackberries alone until I bought my E71 what a device!!! If you’re worried about push email. Try seven and profimail.
@ProfessionalGun
Some guys comments on newegg says he contacted them and they sent him the difference
I think I’m going to hold off until the next E series comes out – I’ve been spoiled by my Bold’s screen. I don’t think I would really be happy with half the pixels.
Things the E71’s successor needs:
*Higher-res, bigger screen
*A little more width
*3.5mm jack MY GOD WHY DO THEY STILL MAKE THEM WITH 2.5mm
*New UI
Symbian itself is fine, but S60 needs a brand new user interface – while I don’t mind it, it really does look like the best 1995 has to offer. Even BlackBerry OS has a more attractive interface.
Yeah there are some thing that bother me about the e71. Mostly it’s shape. It’s the same exact dimensions as an iPhone. It’s way too tall and everything is so squarish. The new 8900 seems to have the perfect form factor.
Also, The 2.5mm jack sucks, but it’s probably necessary for the device to be so thin
Man that red Nokia E71 is looking pretty good…
I wish nokia never changed the size of this phone. I still very much prefer the previous E61i. It was such a different phone. Everywhere I go till today, ppl keep asking me what phone is that.
hi i am living in namibia i do motor industry and i do business with my nokia E71
hi i do business with nokia phones in namibia
What a nasty color…
It looks like a toy, not a business phone
Ohio State Scarlet and Grey Edition.
Seriously speaking guys, this phones got everything a business phone has too offer, right from the oldest infrared to the lasest communicative feature available!! ultra slim phone with great design, Wholah to nokia for that.
but they could have done some improvement over the User Interface!!! its pretty old for such an advanced phone,
I’m a businessman, but also like to listen to some good music during my leisure, 2.5mm audio jack is pretty decent, but an upgrade to a 3.5mm jack would be happily welcome!!
size for me is just perfect.
for factor and the built is just so sophiasticated… it feels elegant to hold that phone.. go for the classic grey steel, the red one suck for a business phone!!! its more for ladies they bought out that colour..
over all an excellent phone, i recommend to all
8.5/10 my rating
happy phone surfing.
