I agree with rambo6 on pretty much all the points.
If Verizon or Sprint was GSM, I would’ve switched over a long time ago. But I too am with at&t (which isn’t soooo bad).
The iPhone’s a pretty decent device, but all the lock downs that Apple did to it probably lost them one more customer (and I ended up getting an unlocked G1 to work on at&t). The iPhone has no copy-paste, no mms (and the worst, no word from them if whether they’re tackling these issues or not), not to mention they still have to work on making the phone a “BIT MORE LOUDER!”. And release actual apps that matter, instead of 1000 ways for the phone to fart.

There are several reasons I have not bought an I-Phone for myself even though my kids all have them:

First, there’s no cut and paste unless you have a jailbroken phone. Second, the proprietary nature of everything apple. Third, the phone has no physical keyboard. My fingers are just too big to hit the virtual apple keyboard.

I also agree that Verizon is my least favorite carrier. They lock everything down (GPS for example) so they can extort every red cent from you. Also, I hate that they are CDMA (i.e., no SIM cards). So I cannot change phones without bowing to their majesties.

I’m a big fan of AT&T and T-mobile though the latter does not really have 3G running in most of the country.

I love HTC phones but I’m mad at them for not using larger screens (I’m sick of 2.8″ mini screens). You’ve got to hand it to Apple. The size and features of the phone are just right (except no keyboard).

I hope HTC or some other GSM phone maker will get it right soon. I’m tired of my HTC Kaiser but am not ready to jump to the I-Phone.

ALL Bluetooth on the iPhone is crippled.

No bluetooth keyboards,mice
No internet sharing
No file sharing
No bluetooth printing
No bluetooth stereo sound

These are all things that even most dumb free phones can do, and certainly any real smartphone can do.

to clarify, I know AT&T sells the iPhone. I was attempting to be sarcastic, as all who hate VZW say it’s because they lock stuff down…and all who love AT&T say it’s because their phones are open.

And, as a side note…I do think it’s ridiculous that apple enjoys a position of superiority because their phones are pretty, yet are probably the most restrictive to date. Even developers have to say “mother may I”? seriously…that’s stupid.

Apple will do whatever it wants …

AT&T will still get screwed in the ass on any iPhone sale until the yield time passes …

That’s the simple facts for the iPhone. Apple knows that the DevTeam is out there sn0wing for the future and giving people around the world the ability to enjoy the phone no matter what they want. Doesn’t really affect their bottom line in the end. People will buy the phone for one reason or another, and with AppStore/Cydia everyone is happy.

But i sincerely wish they would stop locking shit down on it … it’s really annoying to have someone come into the store and bitch when knowing full well it can … just not company policy to talk about

Do any of you use BT for file transfer?

When I transfer photos, the date/time on the photos always changes to the date/time of the transfer/save. Is there any way to make it keep the date the photo was taken?

I mean, c’mon…Verizon is just out to make a buck. The way they lock down their phones…I’m switching to AT&T..
