Order your T-Mobile Curve 8900 early and you may get to unbox it early, too

Our inbox is full of tips lately regarding customers who have succeeded in ordering and receiving BlackBerry Curve 8900s from T-Mobile and now we have an unboxing video thanks to one of our tipsters. If you’ve been itching for one of these and it’s time to upgrade, you might be able to get one before the February 11 release date if you act now. We know that sometimes things just can’t come soon enough – especially if you’ve braved the release of the G1 or you’re a serious BlackBerry addict. As is often the case, we think it may be a question of who you spoke to in the telesales department. It looks like it comes with your run-of-the-mill accessories such as the data cable, travel charger, earbuds and a leather pouch (no holster?!). If you’ve already ordered and received your 8900 or it’s on its way, share the wealth in the comments section and tell us how the process went. For the full unboxing video, hit the jump.
Thanks, trini_pirate!

Typing from my 8900 as I spaek was delivered to me yesterday morning via ups next day shipping
second try..sweet. let’s hope it’s decent build quality
Come on AT&T. Release this phone already!!
@Alex who said: “even though some regular users have ordered this phone it is only availible to buisness customers as if now.”
You’re either posting too much or reading too little.
i want it!!!i just tried the second time tonight… and still no luck… but the good news it i get a full discount on it which it 299 + 100 rebate… not bad at all..
Ordered mine today also will be here by Jan. 28th. Keep trying ppl good luck!
I know this is more than a little bit off the subject, but I figured I should mention it as soon as possible: AT&T just made the official 4.5 handset release available for the 8800, so you can now upgrade fully legitimately. As you may recall, they made the 4.5 available for the 8820 (and 8320) some two months ago, but there are many of us out there with 8800s, and we now got the goods too and can upgrade as of today. Just go to http://www.blackberry.com/upgrades using Internet Explorer (only supported browser; yes I know that’s lame) and it’s pretty much automatic, albeit slow. Takes between 1 hour and 1.5 hours in my experience, especially if you have close to 40,000 address book and calendar records.
ordered mine about 15 minutes ago. The CSR was coo as hell. $429.00 expressed shipped and and receiving by wednesday. THAnks T-MO and BGR
Will I be able to get the 1 year contract in store at TMO on Feb. 11th, or can I only get that through calling a CSR?
I tried, was offered to upgrade for 429. Tried for lower price and they said I’m only 14 months into contract. Spoke to retention and same deal. Phone again and they said I had already been offered the 429 plan twice tonight with other agents. what should I do now? I refuse to pay that much out of principle. Any advice?

I just ordered it and i’m expecting it on the 2nd-3rd of feb. IM a regular customer. The first time i called a guy told me no. I called again and a lady did it
I tried to order the phone tonight and the rep was able to get to the upgrade screen. I went through the whole legal schpeel about extending my contract and yadda yadda…We Spoke about pricing and i even changed my plan. Then he says, I’m sorry we’re having a bit of an issue here…I cannot place your order right away. You may have to pick it up at a Tmobile store. Then he says..nope you have to wait until Feb 11th
. I guess I’ll just wait.
Fun little story: I’m on a family plan through my parents. I got my order in on the 2nd call. I was really excited until we got to the shipping address and I was told that because my address is different they’d need a pre-payment. I figured it was fine and called my dad (I’m getting 8900 as B-day present) who called T-Mobile back. Then the guy from T-Mo told him that even though the order was placed, they don’t actually sell the phone yet, so he canceled it.
Now I’m debating whether to try again tomorrow. Ugh!
I did what T.J. said and my 8900 is on it’s way… no kidding – pretty funny…
sorry guys been busy…I said earlier that the first shipment has already been sent to ATT they already have it in stock. I don’t deal with the individual carriers directly and I don’t receive information on specific dates regarding release, I only have info in regards to specific shipment dates. However, I can tell you that they have not asked for more shipments as of yet which is strange if they’re planning on an imminent release. I can also tell you ATT has exclusivity on the 3g curve aka magnum due out later this year. If you want to put two and two together they may just wait to push the magnum once its released. They are pushing us to release a 3g “curve” asap.
Pg. 2- Bbster pretty much sums it up…good job.
The magnum will be exclusive on ATT for awhile if not indefinetely so all you ATT folks will have your time to gloat.
I called T-Mobile this morning. At first they told me that they could sell the phone to me for $429 (only eligible for $70 upgrade discount). I told them that’s too much to pay for a phone, and I could switch to AT&T and get the Bold for $150 (refurb, or $199 new) and pay the $200 ETF fee to T-Mobile and I’d be saving money. Also mentioned that the Bold is a better phone (faster processor, 3G), although I prefer the new Curve over the bold. After I mentioned this I was transferred to the retention department.
I spoke with a very nice rep who said she’d be able to give the the full discount on the phone when it comes out, $299-$100rebate=$199. However, she said she would note this on my account and I’d have to wait till Feb. 11th to order the phone. That was the end of the first call.
I called back a few hours later after reading about other users luck with dialing 611, saying upgrade, then blackberry, etc. I got a hold of a rep and told him I wanted to order the new 8900. Immediately he said “I see you’re eligible for the full discount” and offered to start the order process. Placed the order with him, and he told me I should have the phone by Wed. the 28th! I did opt in for the Express shipping method since I can’t wait to get my hands on this phone.
One thing to mention. Both CSR’s I spoke to referred to me as a “valued business customer”. Was thinking maybe because I’m on the Enterprise data plan? Maybe that’s why I was able to get my order through, since it’s available to “business customers” now? Oh well, just wanted to post my experience. Good luck everyone!
Thanks BGR! I was going to wait until Feb 11th!
I just called, went to upgrade, the CSR had to transfer me because I’m on SmartAccess.
I asked if I was available for upgrade, he said yes. When he asked what I was look for, I said the new Blackberry 8900. He found it on his screen, and ordered it up. $299 with $100 rebate. Said 7 business days.
Stoked!

I just got my 8900 and love it…I decided on this over the Bold even without the 3G as Tmobiles UMA voice and data over the internet was the deciding factor. At home on my WiFi network it really fly’s and all the travel I do it will come in handy at hotels with low cell reception….no holster is a drag?
Ordered mine yesterday and UPS tracking is already up.
Can’t wait!
@ BB214: Yes, AT&T will be getting an HSPA version of the 8900, but that HSPA radio will be working on 850, 1900 and 2100 (downstream only) MHz only. T-Mobile will be getting a slightly different full-QWERTY Blackberry with HSPA operating on 1700 (upstream) and 2100 (downstream) MHz. So, yes, AT&T will be exclusive to its model, but that doesn’t mean T-Mobile isn’t getting a full-QWERTY Blackberry that’s also HSPA. The two models just aren’t 100% identical. Timeframe on both? Some time between May and November, with T-Mobile no earlier than June/July, probably a bit later.
ATT has exclusive rights for hte HSPA Magnum that will be our companies first touch/qwerty keyboard phone offered along with the phone codenamed Pluto. The Magnum or 3g curve as many people call it, exclusively reserved for ATT at the moment, for how long? I do not have that information however you will not see it in Tmobile’s hands for quite some time. The pluto, another HSPA full qwerty touch screen phone with a bigger real estate and a faster processor will be available also but on ATT for an exclusive period as well. Both phones will be release on Rogers in Canada exclusively also. Tmobile will not be getting these phones anytime soon as you say. Expect possibly 2010
I Did the same thing he said do and it worked.
1: Dial 611
2: say upgrade for phone
3: type of device say BB
4: Ask rep if qualified
5: Ask for price
6: Request upgrade and do the automative agreement
I called in and followed the steps. first two times were a fail. 3rd time was a semi-success. they put my order through but said it’s not to ship until after feb 11th.
