Order your T-Mobile Curve 8900 early and you may get to unbox it early, too

Our inbox is full of tips lately regarding customers who have succeeded in ordering and receiving BlackBerry Curve 8900s from T-Mobile and now we have an unboxing video thanks to one of our tipsters. If you’ve been itching for one of these and it’s time to upgrade, you might be able to get one before the February 11 release date if you act now. We know that sometimes things just can’t come soon enough – especially if you’ve braved the release of the G1 or you’re a serious BlackBerry addict. As is often the case, we think it may be a question of who you spoke to in the telesales department. It looks like it comes with your run-of-the-mill accessories such as the data cable, travel charger, earbuds and a leather pouch (no holster?!). If you’ve already ordered and received your 8900 or it’s on its way, share the wealth in the comments section and tell us how the process went. For the full unboxing video, hit the jump.

Thanks, trini_pirate!

    @ Fark

Not yet. No one knows how long the T-Mobile Exclusivity Period is. RIM wouldn’t budge at CES. Based on past experience, I’d assume sometime between 30 – 90 days. It could be longer depending on negotiations made between RIM and T-Mobile. BB214, any inside tips?????

The RIM 2009 Roadmap is still the best info available, even if imperfect.

Now, why would at&t need the curve when they have the bold which is 3g? How does having the curve 2 benefit them?

    @ No One

The Curve 2 is seen as an “upgrade” to the current Curve. It would be for a different market of consumers — the same consumers who, today, buy the Curve over the Bold. It’s based on needs/wants.

No. Estimates put it anywhere between Q2 of this year and Q1 of 2010. Sorry, I know it’s a big gap.

If BB214 pops on, he’d be the best person to answer that question.

Can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait can’t wait!!!! I love my 8320 but here comes it’s. Yes 3G would be nice, but who knows if/when T-Mo would get the 3G Curve (9220 Magnum)?!? If I get the 8900 now, I would still likely want the 9220 later anyway. Gosh what to do!?!

They refused to upgrade me also! They couldn’t give me an official price tag either! They said it just wasn’t possible and the only people allowed are the business account customers and if anyone has upgraded recently they are lying to me about being a non-business customer.

I just called T-Mobile to see if I would be able to order one. It will be shipped to me by the latest Feb.3 and I do have a regular account. All I did was ask if I qualified for the upgrade, they said yes and asked me if I wanted to order it. My response was HeLL Yeah!!!

I wonder if there is just one business number you call, or if there are different numbers setup for various businesses? I keep calling the business number we are given, and they keep telling me its not in their system yet, and they cannot sell it until it shows up in their system. The business folks that managed to order them, did they tell you the same thing? Did you have to do or tell them something to get around that and get them ordered?

I’ve called three times and spoke to 3 different customer service reps. One being in the Blackberry department and with me being unsatisfied the last and most cooperative one told me she would do it in a heartbeat but their computer systems arent even set up to send me the 8900 in anyway. Seriously? whats the secret?? how are you getting these?

Three times? I double you buddy. Every single person tells me they don’t have it in their system and that they would love to help me out but they just aren’t able to do it. One of them acknowledged to me that it is available to business customers but that it will not be available to the general public until Feb. 11

These are the exact steps I took:
    1: Dial 611
    2: say upgrade for phone
3: type of device say BB
    4: Ask rep if qualified
    5: Ask for price
6: Request upgrade and do the automative agreement.
    I called at 9:41 est.

No luck :-( They told me I couldn’t pre-order it, they are only selling it to business customers, wouldn’t tell me a price, etc. And I thought since I’m not on a contract I’d have some luck but nope!

I am regular customer and do not have a business account. I upgraded to the 8900 last night and it is on it’s way. I just order the 8120 in April 2008, but I got my upgrade with a discount. I even did the 3 month installment plan. I called 611 and said “upgrade”!!

    Dave says:

They’re now allowing me to do it but only with a partial upgrade discount and it will cost me 429.99

Thats outrageous seeing as I’m only a few months away from being eligible for an upgrade for much cheaper!
