Motorola i9 coming soon to Boost Mobile

At this point, provided you live in an area well-covered by Sprint Nextel’s iDEN network, mobile users who don’t have a requirement for a smartphone might be considered crazy not to take advantage of Boost Mobile’s new unlimited plan. $50, everything, all you can eat – don’t expect larger carriers to touch it any time soon. That said, one of the issues possibly preventing customers from heading to Boost is the lack of an exciting handset inventory but from the looks of things Boost is trying to remedy that. Sure the RAZR design is about 350 years old at this point, but the i9 is still a sexy new ModeShift-sporting, PTT-ready handset that will soon be making its way to Boost. You remember the i9, we showed it to you back in October. We had a pretty good idea it was coming to Boost Mobile but a new flier for the Boost unlimited plan might point to a release in the very close future. Hit the jump for a screenshot and a PDF download link.

Thanks, CJ!

I find it hard to believe that this phone doesn’t have a CDMA radio in it but onto more important matters.

The one thing I’m interested in this phone about is the 3MP camera with LED flash….and that’s about it.

This phone is going to retail for $299 and is being released end of Feb. Excellent addition to the Boost lineup. Should definately bring in more of the “prime” customer base.

too bad they are only allocating 19,000 phones nationwide… TOTAL. they are expecting people to use existing handsets out in the market. When I say 19K… I mean between the entire product line… not just the I9 :(

Not sure when this will be coming out but the price if purchased through Boost will be $299. If purchased through Nextel or Sprint with a new contract $199 plus $50 mail in rebate.

I called Boost after they cancelled and refunded my order on the 17th. They said the shipment hasn’t yet arrived from Motorola.

They’ve got 58 hours to get this phone up on their website ready to order and I expect to have it by Friday March 6 or else I’m gonna start calling this out as vaporware.

They’ve got until midnight saturday LA time.

On the morning of 2/28 the Boost website had changed to an updated one with a white and orange theme. The i9 was available then and I placed my order. Got a FedEx tracking number this time.

A couple hours later checking from work it was the old website, I guess they ran out of their initial shipment. My guess is the new website goes live again once they get another shipment in.

I was just able to place an order online for the i9. I called my local Radio Shack but they don’t have it. I paid for the overnite shipping.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
