Verizon Wireless rebrands IN Calling, now includes Alltel numbers

Verizon Wireless is moving right along with its integration of Alltel. As of yesterday, January 16th, Verizon Wireless customers can now call and text message certain Alltel customers for free as part of Verizon’s IN Calling and IN Messaging. To find out if the Alltel number is supported, Verizon customers can go to Verizon’s new Mobile to Mobile web page. Unfortunately, Alltel customers will continue to be billed according to their current plan for calls placed to Verizon customers until the two companies have merged operations. Starting February 15th, Verizon will also drop the “IN” moniker and rename the service as Mobile to Mobile calling and Mobile to Mobile messaging. Say goodbye to all those catchy “IN” slogans!

Starting on February 17, 2009, Alltel customers in markets that will be integrated with Verizon Wireless will be able to use their mobile to mobile allowance for calling Verizon Wireless customers without using their plan minutes.
after seeing all the Verizon ads that now says “over 80 Million Customers” that includes all the alltel customers but yet I just checked the Alltel numbers and I can’t call any of them mobile to mobile and they are local within 15 mins of my house this whole thing is so screwed up if you advertise that alltel’s network is now verizons network then say you can’t call all the alltel numbers.
even though verizon to alltel texts are advertised as free on the VZW website (verizonwireless.com/friend)i was just on the phone with VZW text support and they said the merger was not complete and i have been getting charged for the texts sent to alltel customers.
Yesterday wasn’t January 16! Haha! Jk.
Alltel does get in Calling
