More major AT&T network woes, when will it stop?

The past month or so have not been kind to AT&T’s wireless networks. Constant and often major network outages have been rolling across the country for the better part of a month now and these mounting issues come on top of ongoing complaints regarding AT&T’s ever-slowing 3G network. Not good. An anonymous tipster brings news of this latest major network issue, affecting Philadelphia and the surrounding area. The symptoms this time around include the inability to hear the party on the other end of the line during outbound and inbound calls. We’re going to go out on a limb here and say it’s pretty important to, you know, hear the person you’re talking to. The good news for those affected: AT&T is well aware of the problem and hopefully it will be resolved in a timely manner. Hit the jump for the full AT&T ticket.

I guess I am lucky. Over here in Cleveland, OH, since Wednesday, January 14, I have had 3G data issues with sporadic internet. I can make and receive phone calls when it’s 3G and I can also send and receive SMS message on 3G. On Edge, calls and SMS are fine and data is fine.
My wife is Verizon and hasn’t had any issues this week. She doesn’t have a smart phone though.
I’m in Lancaster, PA about an hour away from Philly and have no problems with my iPhone 3G and never have. Only one dropped call way back in August. My sister, though, had service problems with her iPhone a couple weeks ago.. weird.
I am in Tampa and have had iPhone 3g for 6 months now. No issues whatsoever and can’t see how Att is sh.. on every other day with bgr. Most iPhone users and non iphone users iknow love it and don’t have issues with network. Large attachments come through fast and load web pages quickly. Voice has always worked strong and rarely a dropped call. Moved from tenn last year and always has great service with Att. What carrier doesn’t have open trouble tickets and network related issues? Just be fair with all carriers please.
If you wanna jump ship and see how much better it is elsewhere , go ahead. If the grass is greener, good for you, but please don’t whine and cry like children on a website. It’s sad that these responses are from Adults
Now consider this, folks. For the most part, it is a fact, with exceptions of course – including even in an AT&T such as this one – that mostly only people who have a bad experience with a carrier are posting that the entire company sucks.
Which is understandable of course. But how many pleased, happy customers do you think there are for every one here who don’t say anything, because guess what, they’re loving their service. I bet you the ratio is 1:…followed by a big number.
I work for AT&T now, but I used to work for VZW. When I worked for VZW we would have data outages at least once a month, I have seen more network issues with AT&T, but the speeds with AT&T (when it works right) are faster than VZW. See the problem is VZW didn’t advertise there issues like AT&T does. But when I was at VZW and someone had an issue with there phone we would just swap it out. At least with AT&T we can save some money and say here is the problem. No matter what company you go to there are going to be problems. Just because youre sister doesnt have any problems doesn’t mean you won’t. Electronics are screwy and 90% of the time they work right. But if they don’t work right then OMG let’s freak out. I just laugh because 10 years ago we never thought phones would be able to do what they do. Instead of having a $300 bill and needing everything on your phone, why don’t you go pay some other bills and then maybe this fucking country wouldn’t be in a recession and the credit market would be tanked. As far as people wanting compensation, you really only pay about $3 a day for service and that’s saying you have all the services.
When you consider the complexity of the technology and the number of people trying to use it at the same time, it’s amazing that it even works as well as it does! There are NO guarantees people! Just be thankful that you have a hand-held, portable device, that allows you to occasionally establish communications. If it doesn’t work at the moment, then accept it, do something less stressful than worrying about not being able to get instant gratification by talking, texting, or surfing the web. If you want communications that has better up time, then get your HAM radio license, buy some gear, and learn morse code.
I am having a really strange issue and wondered if anyone else was seeing it. I have a work BB and when someone calls me from a Verizon cell they get a “all circuits are busy” message but it only consistenly happens at night, during the day it’s sometimes goes through. Tested it on 3 different Verizon cell’s calling into my BB.
Any ideas what’s causing this or who to call to fix?
ATT sold some towers recently, where’s the article detailing it
any updates on this issue? i have not been able to hold onto a 3G signal or complete a 5+ phone call for the last month or so..
It is 2/2/09 and I am the Philly market. The problems are still bad, dropped calls like it is 1999 and static, callers can’t hear you, but I can hear them. dead zones like 10 years ago. this the dreaded echo, service is just terrible, if you call att, they tell you there is no problems reported
OMG.
People who keep saying Verizon Cripples there phonea, THEY DON’T ANYMORE!
Grow up! Stop saying CRAP when you don’t what the heck your talking about!
YOUR DUMB @$$’s if you think that still.
ALL GPS is unlocked. All WiFi may be used.
GROW UP!
AT&T has been telling me “it’s your phone” for 6 months now. I do not have the iphone, but I do have the 3G network which was upsold to us by AT&T. My phone constantly drops calls and then I lose the network for over an hour before I can call out again. AT&T has told me the only thing I can do is purchase a new phone from them.????? Should I purchase a new phone? Sounds like switching from at&t is not the best answer with all the network issues being reported. Frustrated in N. Illinois
Still having issues with intermittent 3g connection with iphone. ATT tells me that if has a full coverage, but data sometimes does not even connect in philadelphia, hopefully they will increase bandwith soon.
Join this group to let AT&T know we are very unhappy!
AT&T out all across Boston and New York. Must be tough to have so many customers that they overload the system. I keep paying the bills. If my shit didnt work, you can be sure I would not be employed.
I live in Oceanside Ca. my landline has been out all this week no dial tone or anything however my dsl works which I think is really strange I used a friends cell phone to call their repair department after making an appointment on line which they never showed up for and was told that someone damaged a phone pole and knocked out service so they are re splicing stuff . she also said my phone line might not be up and working until the 28TH !!!!! THAT IS FLIPPEN NUTS, I’D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON !!! Therehave been down poles befor and its never taken that long to fix them. Something is very very wrong ??? any ideas
