Nintendo DSi to hit North America on April 4th
According to multiple sources close to Nintendo, the company is planning to launch the DSi earlier than expected. How does a ship date of April 4th and a retail price of $179 sound? The DSi represents a modest improvement over the still popular Nintendo DS lite, offering a 0.3MP camera, larger 3.25″ displays, access to the DSiWare game catalog, an SD card slot, improved user interface and new software including photo manipulation software and built-in web browser. The DSi launched in November in Japan and sales of the portable gaming handheld have been brisk to say the least – Nintendo sold over a million units through the end of December 2008. In the US, Nintendo is expected to sell the DSi side-by-side with the DS lite, marketing the DSi as the machine for the gamer and the DS Lite for the casual user.

Well my DS Lite broke and I just had to super glue it together so I guess I will end up buyin this. Most likely I’ll wait till they bundle with something, but 0.3MP camera? I guess that’s ok since I never take my DS anywhere, it just stays at home.
Are there any flashcarts for the DSi yet?
A modest hardware improvement is not worth paying hundreds of dollars in game cartridges.

That’s exactly what I was thinking.
Why does it need a camera anyway?
There’s more and more stories coming to light of kids “sexting”, i.e, taking naked/revealing/stupid pics of themselves and sending them to other kids which then eventually end up on the net.
Parents need to be more vigilant if they aren’t already.
i hope this really sucks cuz i just bought ds lite and i was afraid a new 1 would come out and i would miss out
both cameras are 0.3 megapixels.
also it has 256 MB of internal flash memory.

They announced this awhile back, they just said it was supposed to come later. Dont want to be mean but you should of just waited.
Lets just hope the “built-in Web browser” is better than the current DS/DS Lite (Opera) Browser by Opera Software – Opera Software’s computer (”Opera”), Pocket PC (”Opera Mobile”) and Wii (”Wii Browser”) browsers are fantastic, but the DS/DS Lite Browser? It’s pathetic!
As for the 0.3MP (VGA) camera, I wouldn’t be too worried about the kids making home-made porn – not only are the images going to be of very poor quality, but they will be of a relatively small size, deterring most pedophiles from misusing this feature (as for the kids themselves, go for it – I would’ve done the same thing if I had a DSi when I was a kid!)…
