Street Fighter IV gameplay vid reminds us: SFIV almost here

Every time new images or video comes along featuring highlights from the upcoming and long overdue Street Fighter IV franchise-reviver, our mouth starts watering incessantly. We can’t help it. We’re comforted slightly in knowing we should only be about one short month away from the US release, scheduled to hit both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on February 17. It can’t come soon enough however, so hopefully this new gameplay video will tide you over for a while. The two fighters in this particular capture are Gen, an elderly gentleman who clearly hasn’t missed a dose of Celebrex lately and Fei Long, pictured above, who appears to be compensating for something by spending a bit too much time in the gym. Each character puts up a good fight and you even get to see a pretty involved “Ultra Combo Finish” in the second round. Hit the jump for the video and enjoy – we know we did.

Not sure about this…Looks kinda old school graphics.

Why is the fighting only in 2D? Seems to be a bit to Sega megadrive really.

Why does the xbox get the c. Viper figurine. While ps3 gets ryu?

Why didn’t we get ken…or better yet m. Bison???

    I’m really dissapointed about that.

Very disappointing. Thought for sure there would be some kind of 3D environment. If you looked at the original SF2 from 1991 and compared it to this and said this was all we accomplished in 18 years of gaming advancement one would be left stunned.

Wow, this is going to be mega, 2D or not, this is a classic especially being able to use on new consoles. Fact is, most don’t or can’t get ahold of the old school systems. I think this game is more for nestalgia than anything. Now if they could swing back all those classic like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mike Tyson’s Punch Out, Crash TV, Translevania, that boat game with the water dragon on the front (forget name – Centra?), etc. Oh my that would be sweet sweet heaven! Haha

There are enough 3D fighters out there. MK made the switch, leaving pretty much only Marvel versus Capcom and SF to keep it old-school. Less is more, IMO.

What they should have done was give the option for a 3D or 2D fight… hello?? appease both crowds.

    seriously!?

street fighter has to be one of the greatest video game series ever and this game just puts that little something extra on it.

people who think 3d fighters are better, ARE YOU SERIOUS? for that one extra dimension, you lose so much technical ability.

I am fairly confident i mastered most 3d fighters (soul series, tekken, mk4+, tobal etc.) in a few days…I’m still playing Street Fighter 2 Turbo on my Snes and I’ve yet to master it. i still think the snes pad is the best for street fighter but i don’t mind a dual shock..

but gosh to comment on the video, could we get two worse demonstration fighters? it’s one thing if they knew what they were doing, but just jumping around hoping for a miracle, sheesh!
