Sprint ETF settlement leaves $90 up for grabs for customers

Remember all the hoopla about Sprint’s ETF and the lawsuit it was facing because of their policy? Well, as a result of the proposed settlement that is likely to move forward, it looks like anyone who started  and subsequently ended a contract with Sprint between July 1999 and December 2008 is looking at some cash. All you have to do is show proof that you canceled during that time window and paid an ETF, and you’ll be getting $90 for your troubles. Of course, $90 is probably nowhere near what you had to pay to get out of contract and it’s hardly a consolation for all the heartache you had to go through, but it’s better than nothing. In the event you stuck with Sprint during that time period in order to avoid the ETF, you get $35. All you have to do now is deal with the paperwork and process of going through all this stuff and that green will find its way into your pockets.

@ ex t mo Using a reference point from 3 years ago isn’t fair because change has happened, while your carrier may have cheaper plans and better C.S. they also have an inferior network for voice and data. That could be the reason for the cheapness, to each thier own.

My kids have been usings HTC 6800s on Sprints network for about 18 months. Their plan was well priced and the 6800) worked very well, including the unlocked GPS. However, CDMA phones seem to have a much shorter battery life than their GSM counterparts. I know this for a fact since I carried an HTC 6800 on Sprint and an HTC Kaiser for two weeks in the same areas and compared speeds and battery life.

Sprint did have 3G data in more places, but AT&T has more coverage period. Also, the 3G on Sprint was always slower where I could find 3G data for both carriers.

I am impressed with Sprints phone lineup. They had the HTC 6800 months before Verizon. They will have the Palm Pre exclusively for some time.

Depending where one lives, Sprint may be a good choice. The problem is that all the other carriers, including Verizon, will be on worldwide compatible GSM netorks in just a few years. We’ll have to see what happen to Sprint.

So bitter and personal! I think you guys have got the wrong forum–this is Sprint, not Verizon!
Forced into a $30 data plan on top of my old rate–and that includes no tethering whatsoever. Even then that would be okay except
-BB browser still has no Flash support
    -No wi-fi
-Five meg download limit means no podcasts.

Who the f*ck makes a media phone with such a gorgeous screen and forces you to friggin SIDELOAD everything?
Not Sprint. Hey my girlfriend has Sprint so I know they have a third-world 1900 Mhz network, but nobody ass-rapes you like Big Red.

How about being forced into a ‘Simply’ Everything plan, where the data part is more than $30 when broken down, if you purchase certain phones? Where’s the choice there? ;)

The cheapest SE plan is $70 for 450 minutes w/unlimited messaging, nav, data, mobile email, Mobile Sync (on newer phones), TV and radio, subtract $30 from that and that $40 is only beat by t mo. Sprint’s SE plans are compatible wit all smartphones including RIM, unlike red and maybe blue (not sure about the but am sure somebody will correct it or I will myself) and again only t mo beats that but thier data network leaves much to be desired while still having to pay for messaging on all others. I didn’t even talk about the SE fam plans, no extra data packages needed for the subs at all, just pay $20/each for the 3rd thru 5th line. All truth, find a better deal that isn’t pre pay, that has been my challenge since signing up with them. I’m not going to say every moment with them has been rosy but the good of the money I save far outweighs the bad. One last tidbit, I get an employee discount good with the big 4 carriers and factoring that in with the top 2 w/o using it for Sprint and I still save more money, needless to say I use it.

What you are describing is _NOT_ the Simply Everything plan, but Sprint’s Everything Data plan [at 450 mins]. Most carriers, including Sprint, offer individual voice plans of 450 mins at $40/Mo. Thus, the Everything Data plan offers nothing tangibly better than any other carrier, unless coverage suits a user better.

Since it’s already been established that you;re nothing but a trolling Sprint-Shill, your forthcoming response is certain to be tainted with more propaganda. Thanks for your offer of more bullshit, but no thanks. ;)

Subtract $30 from the 900 minute plan and you pay $60 the unlimited plan is $70, talk only plans are available with dumbphones where a $15 data pack can be had with a $10 upgrade to include nav, tv and radio but you still have to pay for messaging or a Pro Pack that has everything the SE’s so why not

A simple admission of fault or misinformation, I got all my information from the most recent Sprint brochure. There’s Everything Data 450, Everything Data 900, Everything Data Fam 1500 and Everything Data Fam 3000, I forgot to mention the individual plans include DC. I was mistaken calling them SE, I’m grown up enough to admit fault. These plans still beat the big 2 and based on coverage, price and services they beat #4 too. Can somebody legitimately refute what I posted?

This is for a new line of service, dickweed. The website is setup a little differently but after selecting shop it asked me if I was already a customer and from there I picked the 200 minute Basic plan, next were my services (I chose 7pm n/w, u/l messaging, m2m and the corresponding data) only one to come out cheaper than SE’s (that’s how they listed on the site) was a Curve w/7 pm n/w, no m2m and a Pro Pack. I’ll use another computer Wednesday, by the way it gave of the option of Basic Data on a Ace, Centro, 755 and Mogul, only the Basic Data for the Diamond but didn’t get a data option for the newer color Centro and 800.

I fake ordered over the phone and was introduced to 3 data plans if not deciding upon an Everything plan, the Everything plans have the highest pack built in so why not get it. The cheapest non-bundled plan comes to $45, $55 and $60 with those data plans that don’t include messaging, 7pm n/w or DC. Sprint will still fail though, gotta beat it into heads.

Now that my post are true and backdoor’s accusations are wrong he’ll continue with the name calling. I will always refute false claims and you are making them the 800 and Centro being discontinued, only $30 data for new customers, the Everything data is more than the competitors also the Centro and Pre aren’t smartphones. Call me what you want (you would never do it to my face) and I’ll let your comments speak for themselves. Oh yeah, I’m a shill and an apologist also Sprint and Palm will fail, according to buddy, so now how will you rebut?
